Heya Clean cut

I'm going to visit Eden and it's surrounding areas over the New Year. I still remember those photos you posted which you took while visiting your brother. A good friend of mine will be caravanning down there hence the reason I'm making the trip. Normally I would just follow the highway through Eden and then onto Melbourne and in the process miss out on the awesome beaches in that neck of the woods.

I never posted any photos and besides I went through to Canberra and then on to Mollymook.

I tend to miss home ... and my dogs ... and usually end up enjoying them for a spell before I'll go off gallivanting again.

 What kinda dogs do you keep?

I have three Great Danes, Draad.

Odin who is fawn ... Colossus and Churchill who are both Merle.

In case your wandering ... that's their colour.

Well that's nice CC. Any man who likes a dog can't be all bad. The guy installing my satellite dish today told me  he had a  Rhodesian Ridgeback. Instant respect.

I've recently adopted a German shepherd puppy

My aunt had a Great Dane when I was very young, CC. He was gigantic, like a horse ! Used to chase the milkman......never seen a man vault a fence so quickly, ha ha ha  He was fine with everyone else, the only reason we could think of was he must have taken offence to his Spanish accent !! 
My eldest brother had Dobermans. They were a bit scary too. 
I stick to felines...... 

 Before I read your post Becs I was thinking the only dogs I dont trust are dobies .When we were kids our idiot neighbour used to let his pack of dobie guard dogs loose at night for some stupid reason .They got in our yard and tore my baby brothers wee pet lamb to pieces so the old man went over to the neighbours and shot the lot of them ,when the idiot neighbour objected me mam had to stop me Da from shooting him as well .Watching how a person treats their animals can give you a bit of insight into the person themselves .

 
Haven't seen a Rhodesian Ridgeback for quite some time.

Great Dog. Good with kids too. My grandfather had two on his farm way back then. Used to hunt guinea fowl with them.

Nice APD. I too prefer to raise them from a puppy. A German Shepherd is a great woof. Smart. 

I like a dog I can wrestle with. Something big and a clumsy. Something to hug. Something that competes with me for the best spot on the couch.

My wife likes cats ... or should I say, she liked cats. I'm not really a fan cause they tend to bring birds into the house and I inevitably end up stepping in some mushy mess on the floor.

Luckily Odin feels the same way about them. Both my wife's ginger cats thought it best to leave.

Needless to say Odie earned himself and the other two a nice lamb shank that evening for supper.    

I have two Labradors! Not great watchdogs because they are too friendly, but clever buggers and I swear there is no animal with a better temperament! 

 Picking up my bouvier pup next week (8 weeks). Chewbacca ....just in time for the movie.

My labrador has a typical lab good nature but he is also a brilliant watchdog . . . and the lab I had before him was even better!

My current lab now has a little companion . . . a French bulldog. He's 6 months old and I can safely say that I've never had a dog before with as much character.

 If you rate French bulldogs, you might enjoy the video clip I posted above.

 Oh no, Wardad  That is dreadful ! I understand what you are saying, before you get cross with me, but still.....
I haven't seen a Ridgeback in a few years myself. Mental dogs quite frankly ! But like all animals, they need to be treated with love, care and respect. Too many dogs don't get any of that and they suffer the ultimate consequence  
An ex of mine had a Lab.....she hated me ! Desperately jealous and used to knock me over at every opportunity...ha ha ha ! I have to admit to, not only being allergic to dogs, but also having a life-long fear of them. I know, stupid of me, but there you go. I am not scared of spiders !  
As for felines, they are my big love, I have to say and my Bengal was the most beautiful of all those I have had in my life. If you think a normal cat was bad for psychotic murder, CC, you have never known a Miniature Leopard !!! Not the ideal animal for a Vegan, but there you have it.....

 When my middle girl was about 8 or 9 she camme running up the driveway clutching a bundle of blood and fur that was her wee puppy ,some idiot had benn speeding down our street and run my girls wee pup over .The vet said unless we were prepared to spend at least 5 grand on the off chance he could be saved it was best to put the wee doggy down .But what sort of bloke can look at the trust and hope in his daughters eyes and think of money ? So 12 grand later the wee pup becomes the silly looking dog I used to call Tripod or sometimes bar stool what with the 3 legs and all .Becs would have liked his name "monty "Some squeezer next door let him out the side gate never to be seen again when he moved house ,in response to my threats of a severe belting if I caught him torturing his kids wee pup again .Calling some people dogs is unfair to canines .

I've had a few run ins with my neighbour too on how he treats his Mastiff. Really annoys me. Brings out my ugly side. Not pretty.

Needless to say "Leeu" and I have become good mates. Odin, Church and Colossus aren't charmed!!

Bouvier's are awesome dogs. The only one I know is very aggressive and won't allow me near him. Black as the night.

Chewbacca! Nice name. Can only imagine what that's gonna come out as after a few whiskeys.

I love Labradors. Superb family dogs. Will defend you with their lives, as friendly as they are. Tend to have weight issues as they get older so daily exercise is a must.

I run with my Danes everyday at 5am. Keeps them in shape and me too. Weekends off though.

Bec's ... Good looking tats you have there. Can't say I've ever seen any of those you mentioned round these parts.

 Any man who mistreats his dogs is no man at all and deserves sorting out ,usually it shows in how they treat their family too .Churchill used to talk about his constant companion ' that black dog ' but I think that was his depression manifesting itself !3 great Danes would require your own cattle feedlot to service I reckon .And didnt they used to call Anita Ekberg "The Great Dane " ?

 
Yeah and to clean up after them one needs a shovel ... back breaking stuff!!

It's all worth it though.

Saw them chase a hare in the bush two months back. My boys can run like the wind but a hare can turn at acute angles in mid flight and that was the difference between them.

In the end I got the feeling that the hare knew this and was simply out for a little fun.

My boys check the bush thoroughly now for any sign of that illusive creature. It's become a daily ritual before we run.

Shan't forget that chase for as long as I live.

 Neither will your dogs by the sound of it ! As a lad my first dog ,a terrier bitzer used to be pretty good at catching rabbits in their  hidey holes but with the short legs wasnt too flash at running em down .As a young shearer in Sth Australia I was travelling out bush with a mate when he ran over a rabbit .Being a pretty kind hearted sort of feller he went back to see what he could do for it .I watched as he rummaged around in his boot and appeared carrying an old doctors bag ,and by the light from the head lamps he opened a small vial and poured it over the creatures motionless form .To my absolute amazement the wee creature shook itself off leapt to its feet and bolted into the night !As he sat next to me and buckled up I asked him " What in the world was in that bottle ???" He turned to me and says " hare restorer 'We drove on ....

 Ha ha Wardad, good one mate
