I also know that when posters start to gang up on others and censorship
and some sort of guidelines are being imposed, things go bad real fast.
No one's asking for censorship though, Draad. Just a lift in the standard of discussion. No more deliberate and tedious prolonging of discussions with kindergarten-level reasoning and arguments. No more calling people liars (unless, of course, you can prove they are lying) or any other names simply because you don't like what they have to say. And I include myself in that because I also tend to go on sometimes when I should just walk away. That's all.
I disagree with you that things necessarily go bad when guidelines are imposed. It depends on the guidelines. Things also go bad without guidelines. Remember how, on the previous platform, this forum was hijacked and rendered unusable by a few posters who abused the margins issue?
Pakie, I have a problem when guidelines being imposed by fellow posters. That was exactly what happened with the margins censorship...total chaos.
I don't have an issue with guidelines and moderation by site admin, but it should be evenhanded and faceless.
It's fine if posters can agree amongst each other, but that's not what's being asked here. Democracy on a forum is mob rule...and total anarchy.

Fair point.
PS, Pakie, I think Maaik treated you most unfair of all...for what it's worth, I get where you're coming from, I just believe in a different solution to the current conundrum.
