A poor Samoa and suddenly the Goats are world beaters again.
We've seen it all before ... many times over the last few years.
Lose to Argentina ... come back and play a better match ... and have Mozart and company singing their praises again ... only to lose to Japan a few weeks later.
That's how it's been the last year. Let's not forget that!!
The reality of it all is that the Goats have lost 10 of the last 16 tests played ... that's more than 60% ... and what makes it worse is that most of these matches were against lesser teams ... minnows.
The Samoans were really poor yesterday. They in fact had a shocker.
It looked as though they had no game plan and if they did, it went horribly wrong.
Like headless chickens running around in a state of panic.
Their line-outs were simply awful ... worse than primary school boy standard ... so much so that it even made the useless Matfield look good ... for a change ...
This s of course is sufficient cause for Mozart to sing his praises.
Sadly it doesn't change anything though. He is still a tired old man and that much was seen the moment Lood came on. A big difference.
They scrummed Jannie into the ground ...as most teams usually do ... and of course Mozart will spout his usual nonsense, trying the best he can to convince us and himself of how wonderful Jannie was ... singing his praises ... but the rest of us noted what a difference Malherbe made when he came on.
The Samoan's kicking game, both out of hand and at posts were probably one of the worst displays I've seen in a very long time.
It's so very very easy to compete against a team that just kicks everything randomly away ... it didn't even matter where they kicked it to ... they were even trying to slot shots at the posts from within their own half.
In total shambles.
On a positive note ... De Allende was awesome. It's taken the fool Meyer awhile to register that he is our best 12 and that De Villiers should be sent out to pasture.
He made a massif difference. Absolute class written all over him.
Willie was also impressive ... for a change. A massif improvement on that useless Kirchner.
No doubt Meyer will still retain the services of Kirchner.
Pollard was ok. Nothing special about the man's day but solid enough.
Lambie would have been much better had he received the same support from the coach. Besides that, receiving quick ball from Du Preez was a breath of fresh air in comparison to the dullard Pienaar.
Still, we have better scrummies in the country than the old man Du Preez.
It was a good training session for the Goats ... against an out of sorts Samoa ... who I personally feel would also have been thumped by north south east Freestate had they played.
So before you guys pack the trophy into your suitcase, let us first see the Goats produce a better standard of play, against the top tier teams in the world, winning the next 10 - 15 matches and bringing our win/loss ratio back into the black.
Till then, I'm not convinced of anything regarding them.
