I wish there is a summary about What Naas Botha said

in the post-match discussion.   That was illuminating as to what went  wrong with Meyer as a coach and his criticism of the assistant coaches appointed by Meyer was scathing.   Same with the game plan or the absence thereof.
This is typical of what the real professionals think about Meyer as a coach - only the fools on this site constantly says the opposite.   The main criticism include the appointment method of assistant coaches.  Instead of advertising positions the assistant coaches are appointed by Meyer as Head Coach.  His appointments are as bad as his selections and that is the reason why the team constantly misfired.
Some expert should please find a recording of what was said during the said panel discussion and post it on this site.   It may yet open some idiot's eyes  to the real situation iro Springbok rugby.

Then to ask these oaks to realise that Meyer is selecting poorly and playing dom rugby is just a bridge to far. Bwhahahahahahahahaha
I agree re the assistant coaches. He went for all the dom bulle coaches! He could have had the best the world has to offer. 
Yet dispite all this we loose by 2 points because of a ref "error" If only we could get our house in order the hapless wee abs would be no match for the Mighty Boks!

Meyer doesn't have total control over his coaching or player selections . He will return home & be castigated for a woeful performance regarding transformation with the quota numbers used barely 50% of requirement ........... as Steve Hansen said, "I don't have to worry about such things ".

 Agree Blobbie but his tactics and other selections  are also poor.
The IRB should ban SA until there is no quotas. Time they acted. What hypocrisy is at play here!!!!

Please do not try and hide behind quota selections - Meyer even buggered up in that. His main problem is that he picked at least 6 players outside of quotas that should not have been anywhere near the team.   His quota selections were all poor.  Why pick Brits as a hooker - he could have picked Scara - why pick Alberts in the first instance.  If he wanted to pick Louw play him as a blindisdeer and pick Kriel and Carr as loosies.  Reduce the locks to 3 and not four picks.  The moment he picks the deficient Matfield as a lock =- he has to pick a grinder loosies to help in Tight 5 play to off-set that deficiency.   
You can look at virtually every player Meyer picked and the same applies.   Why pick Coenie when he was not matchfit.  Why not Kitshoff.  Why pick Jannie at all - a farcial selection.
One can go on and on about the issue.   If you know that you have a quota issue - decide on the quotations and try and get the required number of players based on merit.  But then your other sewlections must be based on merit as well.   When the squad was announced it was clerar that performance played no role in squad selection - reputation was the only criterium.  The quota selections was not a problem in the WC perofrmances - reputation players were the real problem.   If that Japan loss by the "most experienced" team ever did not open your eyes about the problem - nothing will.
Be is as it may - Meyer made a farce of the squad selection of players for the tournament and selected players like Morne Steyn who played for 15 minutes in a game that was already won and Willem Alberts with about 30 minutes playing time.     He might as well has picked two quota selections to off-set them.  His hospital ward selections all failed - whether you like it or not.
The announcement of the supporting staff was made by Matfield - he claied to have made the decision as to who was to eb appointed.  He picked the whole Bulls set-up - why that when eh could have insisted on getting top assistants.  He might have consulted SARU and motivated his appointments - but that was never a public issue.  What was public was that he made the appointments of assistant coaches - which effectively was a farce since he picked the Bulls supporting staff as assistants.
If Meyer is to be retained as a coach - the ass istant coaches situation wiull have to be cleared up - the system just did not work.      
             

 spot on mike meyer was given carte blanche to pick his management team.
so he needs to carry the sole blame for any issues there was with the skillsets what was chosen. its very unfair to lay the blame at the assistant coaches no suddenly when its obvious that meyer was the mastermind.

i agree with your comments in regards to naas ext. everyone sees that the meyer way of playing the game is a cancer tumour in sa rugby. lets hope the sa rugby council dumps meyer as a bad sandwich 
sa rugby will drive a lot of fans away if they persist with this dogmatic one dimensional coach. i dont doubt his conviction but his vision if there was any is fundamentaliy flawed.
