Ireland move up the rankings to second..

 

... Joe Schmidt’s men moved up to third in the official World Rugby list last November, returning to that position after beating England in the Six Nations in March.

Now Ireland find themselves ranked second in the world for the first time, having replaced South Africa behind leaders New Zealand.

The Springboks were beaten 37-25 by a hard-working and highly-skillful Argentina this afternoon in their Rugby Championship clash in Durban.

Schmidt is sure to play down the meaning of this ranking as the second best team in the world ahead of the start of the World Cup next month, although it is a further indicator of the improvements made under the Kiwi since he took charge in 2013.

New Zealand remain in a dominant position at the top of the rankings despite their 27-19 defeat to Michael Cheika’s Australia earlier today.

Ireland’s victory means they are narrowly ahead of the Wallabies in second spot.

 The real ranking is 1.Australia, 2.New Zealand, 3.South Africa. These rankings are mostly inaccurate. Not to say Ireland are rubbish, but saying they are second? It'll only lead to tears in the end, just like 2007.

Meyer's reign is starting to become a complete shambles. 
It started as a shambles with too many Bulls players like the worse than useless Werner Kruger.Then it seemed he got the team playing well and his winning record was higher than most other Bok coaches. That has now spiralled downwards with the loss to Argentina. 

The performances against Australia and the All Blacks were at least opportunities to win but this was a humiliation to Argentina. 
However credit to Argentina. They have become a bogey team for the Boks. They really know how to boss the breakdowns when t he 2 teams play- and are certainly better than their official world ranking. 
When they play their best team they have and allround team and could do well at this years World Cup.
