This guy is useless.

He became coach of an average English club team and they got rid of him very quickly.

The game plan is 15 forwards who try crash and bash their way up the field.

This team reminds me of the Sharks team that finished last in the SuperX many years ago0

Bring back Jake. BwahahahahhaBotha at lock is no good. Chadwick is too pap. Where is Thomas Du Toit. Injured I suppose.
Sharks have players out so can improve a lot.

Gold has no track record - none whatsoever. Hopping from one failure to the next.

Brendan Venter can pi-ss off if he is only going to commit to being a temporary coach when it suits him. Let him focus on his dental practise and writing news stories about rugby.
As for this useless plodder Gary Gold, it is going to be a long hard season. It is up to the players to turn around, they are going to beat around the park by teams that have a game plan.
Last year many teams were winning their home games, this season it is free for all.

I knew this guy was pathetic. Take out the experienced players in the team in Frans Steyn and Bismaark, and it in some local pub team with no game plan.

It is not so easy - the senior players are those with big mouths and poor performance.  What did Steyn produce for the Sharks this year?  Near to zero.   Bismarck is not the player he used to be - neither is Jannie and Beast - neither are John Smit's geriatric imports.
Plumtree must be laughing his ass off.   He was fired and what did they get in return - two coaches believing that rugby ends at 10 and the remainder of the players are just decor.

Gold is average at best but he's still miles better than Joke White ever was.
I'd take John Plumtree back in a heartbeat . . . or even better, Johan Acker mann!

"Gold is average at best but he's still miles better than Joke White ever was."

Really?

One has a decent track record, the other doesn't have a track record...just to labour the point I'm saying, zip, nil, zero track record. Get it?

Now then, how dumb would you be to trump Gold over White? Or how hate-filled are you to trump a clueless plodder, one who  embarrasses your team and will continue to embarrass your team over someone who has a gold class track record.

Clown, you are talking plain kak!!

Why Smit thought Gold was the answer is beyond me......what has he ever achieved as a coach?

I wouldn't worry about RooiAAS' comments. The logic is so transparent. He thought Luke Watson was the player of the decade....Jake never rated him so the AAS hated Jake.....said he was a failure....then Jake won the WC ....so he hated him more.

Jake is the most astute coach we have had in the last 20 years....his push defence and fetching by the whole team concepts  have become staples in the modern game.

What fetching are you talking about.   SA was poor in ball protection and recovery for years now and there was no improvement in that while White was around.   White did not make any improvements for the Sharks in the relevant regard - since he selected one dud who in the last two years never ever protected a ball or recovered one as one of his loosies.
What White did has nothing to do with the modern game and everything to do with rugby played a decade ago.  But then he did not adjust his game to fit into the law changes affected since 2008 - so the game plan of white was only partially successful.
His playing style was easy to read and easier to counter, especially since the kicking game he  advocated was executed by one of the most inaccurate kicker in teh business.
What White did to the Sharks team was scary - a brand of totally witless and unthinking rugby was the norm and he left the Sharks under a serious cloud.  If he was so good would that have happened?

Jake is anything but the most astute coach we have had, he was average at best no better than Meyer.....Mallett, Mc Intosh and Kitch were all far better than Jake.

I would sack John Smit first. Why is hiring all of his cronies? Jake at least got the team to the top last year and this year they look a million miles away.
Their senior players are letting them down and I'm beginning to question their value to SA rugby.
JP looks like he has no interest in playingBismarck are always looking for fight and red cards seem to follow him. He gets wind up way to easily and is a soft target.Frans Steyn has become very cynical and like to pig on smaller playersJannie has been pap for some timeBeast looks out of sorts
Then you have to question the geriatrics that John brought back from England
Mouritz Botha has been the first choice for some timeMatt Stevens looks way to out of shape other than trying to use his weight in the scrum. Looks like a heart attack candidateWentzel, never really got his career going.
Then there is the quality of the youngsters.
Esterhuizen has absolutely no ball sense, re-treaded loose forward. Du Toit is being wasted
So I think it has been all about John Smit trying to run the show instead of letting the coaches get on with their jobs.
But then again, look what he did to the boks from 2009 to 2011. Kept the youngsters out for his own personal gain.

The joke as usual is on ou rooitwit. Smit is out of his depth and making stupid decisions.
Give Gold the rest of the year. If no improvemnet get in Dr Brendon Venter a real rugby brain.
To think we have suffered with Alistair when we could have asked Brendon to take over!!!! The mind boggles at decisions like this which in this particualr case are clearly race based and racist.
