Peter Grant may be getting a bok call up, but is he really much better than Morne Steyn?

His running and passing game seems to have gone down hile.

His pass to Joe Pieterson was so poor- that Pieterson resorted to traping the ball with his foot.

Poor Jean got the worse hospital pass ever- he had to even turn around to catch it- allowing JP to tackle him in the back. Other passes went skidding over the floor. Most of the time it was on good attacking movements.

Perhaps it is Peter Grant that is causing the Stormers backs to under perform. Jean Devilliers created and excellant try for Aplon today but Peter Grant lacked allot of the decision making ability of a test flyhalf in the semi. It looks like Lambie is the best best for boks Flyhalf.

Peter Grant is a superb short to medium  place kicker. He is not great line kicker, nor a great tactical kicker....Steyn is far superior. Peter does carry the ball to the line with more conviction....but is still not a "running" flyhalf. His passing is no better than Morne. And his defence has always been iffy.....look at his effort on JP today.....he gave away too much space which set up the easy step.

So we change if Morne becomes a kicking basket case. And if we change maybe it's Lambie....who is a better runner/defender than either Grant or Morne. Trouble is, can Lambie land a match winning kick?

Before today's game I would have said to pick Lambie @ 10 and Joe Pietersen at 15 (Joe doing the kicking), but I guess Bambie must step up or the boks are done for.

I definitely rate Grant as a better all-round flyhalf than Morne Steyn - but he had a bad day at the office against the Sharks and provably damaged his selection chances badly.    I think that they should select Lambie at flyhalf - he is a good enough goal kicker and they do have Francois Steyn to kick the long distance goals.

Really hope he isn't another Morne Steyn... we need a far more dynamic player than Steyn.

He certainly has the potential to be a great deal better, but we won't know until he gets his shot

Grant is a great goal kicker but other than that not a Bok candidate. Lambie is the man to turn to.

What puzzles me at times is why Frans cant take the shorter kicks. His accuracy from great distances is outstanding . Why is it assumed he cant kick shorter penalties etc?

Beeno Actually Fran's accuracy is not that great. He is only given the long kicks due to his distance. I however believ that with some work he can be just as accurate as he has reach. I won't mind playing him as my First line kicker at 12.

frans can do the job but he does tend to shank more the shorter kick because he want to kick it out of the stadium. he never took the penealties because he was never the first choice. i might be a decent idea to give him the mantle and give a other player a crack at the 10 slot. maybe a lambie maybe ???? i dont know. but on the grant issue its a tough call seeing that he is just a robotic as morne. i dont know if he was told to play that pattern by the coach but to my knowledge he was always a decent enough 10.
