Pat Lambie…backed by most intelligent critics but attacked by Morne Steyn supporters
Handre Pollard…favoured by all, at least lets hope so.
Matfield…favoured by Letsit, Mozart but good sense tells us his sell by date has long since gone.
Eben Etzebeth…I think most if not all have to agree here
PSDT…favoured by Sebastien, Maaik and most of us (except Letsit) who claims he is injury prone
Willem Alberts…attacked vehemently by Maaik but to some extent I think Saffex (not sure)…a lot of us still feel he might be effective on English soil.
Frans Steyn…once supported by Maaik but since putting on weight has fallen badly from his support and Ol Mike is now his most active critic. He also apparently does not seem to want to play for the Bokke anymore hence his exclusion from the trials. Supported by more or less the Morne and Matfield supporters.
Elton “ Silky Hands” Jantjies…criticised by most when he went through a bad patch…played for the Stormers and really did have difficulties adjusting…in all fairness it was a very hard period for him…the loss of his father and mentor at a very young age…Saffex to his credit was always a supporter and has been vindicated by his support of him…starting to really play well with the Lions and shouldn’t have left
Marcel Coetzee…one of our best and supported by virtually everyone except Mozart for some unaccountable reason
Schalk Burger…fell out of favour with the majority at one stage but since his recovery to form has most of our support…he is a class flanker.
Willie Le Roux…here again gets unaminous support but some favour Jesse Kriel but definitely both must be included in the squad.
Francois Hougaard…quite a fair amount of support on wing but generally not favoured as scrummie (except Saffex).
Other controversies center around the centers…JJ, Serfontein, De Jong, De Allende etc…there is huge disagreements here and the debate still continues.
