De Allende has hit the ground running. He's strong on his feet, get's us go forward every time he touches the ball, has a step, passes in contact, creates space for the outside man ... in short ... he's a natural 12 ... a game maker ... innovative, unpredictable, solid defender ... everything Jean isn't.
He has done enough to secure the Bok 12 jersey in my opinion ... Jean should do the right thing ... acknowledge De Allende as the better 12 and for the good of SA rugby ... retire.
Meyer however doesn't see it like that. He's already using his standard excuse of "experience" or rather that the lack of it cost us the match, opening the door to selecting the elderly.
He will return the 12 jersey to Jean as soon as he's able.
If it were up to me, Jean would never play test rugby again.

Premature stuff CC. Jean has had a good rest and like Burger could well come back. Jean is also a quality player and if he does come bck is a must for the Boks RWC.If he helps Meyer dispense with the show pony all to the good.
No question Allende is a great 12 in the making as is kriel at 13.
Note also how a bit of rest has rejuvenated Jannie and Beast.
We cant rule out Jean yet.

What kind of team did WP played yesterday in that warm-up game against the Pumas? When I saw that team it is no surprise that they lost. However as far as I could make out De Villiers' performance yesterday was nothing to write home about.
We will have to see how Jean develops over the next few weeks. Unlike Matfield - he is an honest guy who clearly said he is not going to make himself available for Springbok selection if his performances are not good enough and he may let the team down. Lets wait and see how things develop.
What one can be sure of though is that Meyer in his normal manner will bugger up the selections and that is a fact.

Forget Jean he is about as effective as useless Matfield is these days but no doubt useless Meyer will bring Jean back as soon as possible and our already weak Bok side will be further weakened

Damian has failed spectacularly at 12.
JP has sealed off his wing perfectly and added a layer of aerial security. Why drop him either? His work against Australia was very good. Even coming in at first receiver!
You are right however, a lot depends on Jean, but one thing is clear, Damian is not the answer for the World Cup.

Damien is nowhere near Jean in terms of defensive nous...but he is a dangerous runner.
If Jean is really healthy he will get the nod ...with JP, Allende and Kriel competing for 2 spots.

He is a dangerous runner in space. He only succeeds if he attacks the outside, never inside. He cannot carry the ball up either. And his defence simply doesn't exist. A 12 he most certainly is not.

de Allende is twice the player Jean is these days
Jean better defensively is a load of shit....just look at Jean s defensive stats when he partnered JJ in the RC.
Ball in hand you can't even begin to compare them. Jean was poor last year for the Boks...is another has been....but Meyer will have him straight back against NZ and yet another loss will be the outcome.
Clueless selections are the order of the day and don't get me started on the mighty Bok game plan.

Well, Damian can't defend at all. Australia just humiliated him.

Fox you keep embarrassing yourself with your ignorant take on de Allende....its very amusing....the same guy who was by far the best centre in the entire S15...could you be more stupid?
It's as bad as telling us all how good plodder Morne is at 10.
These two very points define your rugby ignorance....you are a joke....but we need you on here....
