When the Lions got new sponsorships - especially from Emirates - they did the wise thing and did not waste money on signing up has-beens and never has-beens. They used the money to improve the service conditions of their present players. The result is that the list of retained players - both seniors and yet mostly unknown juniors - is growing regularly and they are not about to lose any of their promising players this year.
Wish the Stormers, Sharks and Bulls do the same and get rid of their duds. Incidentally there is no signs yet that the Bulls have made any offers to Pierre Spies and Stegmann. They have more than enough good younger loosies. And Ouma Victoria will also hopefully be gone when Super 18 commences next year. Wish Coetzee would take De Jongh and Leyds with him to Japan - nobody else would sign them up. The Sharks has a huge job to find now players to replace their present duds and I gave a list elsewhere what their real needs are.
