The article accompanying the picture questions whether Malherbe had sunk his teeth into Trouville.
When shown the photograph, Trouville told team USA officials he could not recall the incident, while a spokesperson for the Boks also said he was not aware of it and no citing has been issued.
This writer feels the picture may be a bit misleading, and let's hope for Malherbe's sake that it is.

I just had a chat with Frans Malherbe's mother and she said that she cannot believe it of her son. They (his father and mother) are going to England next week and will remain there until after the semies. I met Frans a number of times and cannot believe that he would be guilty of that kind of conduct in any event.
Given the recipient knows nothing about the so called bite, tells me that, that is just an unfortunate photo......mouth open as you do and happens to be on the players shoulder.
It does not look like he is biting, it looks like a mouth open on shoulder, no biting down.
But video evidence is required
