Here is his WC suggested squad:
Forwards – Beast Mtawarira, Trevor Nyakane, Steven Kitshoff, Jannie du Plessis, Frans Malherbe, Coenie Oosthuizen, Bismarck du Plessis, Adriaan Strauss, Scarra Ntubeni, Victor Matfield, Eben Etzebeth, Lood de Jager, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Duane Vermeulen, Willem Alberts, Francois Louw, Schalk Burger, Siya Kolisi/Oupa Mohoje.
Backs – Fourie du Preez, Cobus Reinach, Faf de Klerk, Handré Pollard, Pat Lambie, Elton Jantjies, Jean de Villiers, Damian de Allende, Jan Serfontein, Bryan Habana, JP Pietersen, Lwazi Mvovo, Willie le Roux.
He starts with 13 backs and 18 forwards. And with 3 fly halves and 3 scrummies. That leaves 7 backs covering 5 positions...hardly enough for bench positions.
But the player choices are even stranger. No Kriel, but Step is included. Elton Jantjies....a serial choker gets there. There is no cover for Willie if Lambie is starting. Pienaar doesn't even make it, but Faf and Reinach with so little NH experience do.
The forwards make more sense except for Scarra....what a way to ensure lineout dominance. But there are too many of them.
When these critics get to pick their own teams the naïveté of their thought processes is ruthlessly exposed. This is a foolish team.
