The first law firm I joined after doing my English conversion had a bunch of hardcore old school partners.
We often used to pop down to the local pub at lunchtime and they would stick the business card behind the bar and we would spend the entire afternoon on the beer. We would stumble back to the office, log off, grab your things and head home.
I remember once getting so pissed that I fell on my way to the station and split my trousers right down the crotch. When I got onto the train it was heaving so I ended up plonking myself on the floor with my split and underpants in full view of my fellow commuters, some of which were good mates of mine
Funny thing is, all that time in the pubs was billed as time spent ‘thinking and considering’ I kid you not. Some of those old boys after 6 or 7 pints would shoot off for a client meeting. Admittedly most of the clients were behind bars - criminal fraud.
First case I was ever given was defending a guy that had been caught along with about 10 others smuggling cigarettes through Felixstowe port. At first he tried to convince me that he had no part to play, but given his string of previous convictions for similar offences we soon put that to bed.
He was the first client I had the ‘toothbrush’ conversation with. His recent mail order bride from Russia had just moved over to be with him when he was sent down. Poor woman - she could hardly speak English.
The good old days that must have been around 2000

They were charged with smuggling fags. When Fat Lip was done defending them they were convicted of human trafficking, heroin production, fraud, and murder.
All in a day's work.

I can imagine you being my legal defence.
After two minutes of consultation with you I'd lose all hope of breathing free air again.
"Judge, my client is innocent because a) I say so, b) other people also say so, c) they look innocent, d) other people like them are innocent...and finally, Judge, everybody is ignorant."

Yes, Fat Lip
Tell us about the time that you defended a jaywalker and got him the death penalty.

Yeah, the guy ended up being so guilty that they changed the law in order to punish him enough.

...and worked in the Magiatrate's Court. I'm well aware that they abolished the death penalty yonks ago.
...and then they brought it back specifically for your clients.

Making and selling ice cream is a very lucrative and prosperous business let me tell you
Everyone loves ice cream. Here is a little clue - just imagine how many good restaurants are located within a single county let alone the country. All I need is 10% of those restaurants on board at £150 a week. You do the maths dumbfuck.
But that’s a stretch too far for you to work out no doubt
