I think you will find Lood was pushed out to touch by two playes - but that's beside the point - what the hell does that have to do with a lack of brains.
Man we read some nonsense at times.

Matfield may be smart enough not to be pushed out of play in that case - but he would go straight down and hang onto the ball and penalized - like happened twice against Wales in the June tests.   
Do you call it smart when a player moonlight in the backline and then when the ball is past to him - hangs back letting the pass go to the next player, which in fact results in the next player getting a bad pass.   You blame the passer - but as happened in the EOYT twice - the real problem was Matfield.  
Rugby IQ is fine - but then physical ability to execute is of as much importance.
