Yes I suppose he had to catch on some tome as even Dr Mozzzzz has - slowly shifting his stance but still clinging to the fable that Allende is a poor open filed defender!!!! Amazing really.

Dr Moz will be all over us like a rash if Allende ever misses a tackle (We all know of course that even great defenders do miss tackles).

But lets nut be churlish re slow coach Meyer who has finally twigged re Allende and krile as well. All he needs to do is dump matfiled an d our RWC chances will leap upwards.

ex keo

Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer hailed the performance of Damian de Allende against the World XV on Saturday, writes CRAIG LEWIS.

The inside centre was one of the Springbok standouts at Newlands on Saturday, particularly in the first half when he scored an impressive try, while combining well with midfield partner Jesse Kriel to help create another.

De Allende capped off an outstanding performance with a superb solo try in the final play of the game, running some 80m as he chipped, chased and toed the ball ahead to score his second try. (I do hope Card and Dr Mozzz enjoy dining on CROW!! Hahahhahahahahaha)

The talented 23-year-old was the most impressive South African centre for much of the Vodacom Super Rugby season this year, and carried that form over into the opening encounter of the international season. (AS noted by Beeno!)

'There's always that question when guys perform well in Super Rugby and then whether that step up can be made, it's a mental step up that's required as well,' Meyer commented. 'Damian has answered that question, he's developed a lot as a player. He was also in top form last year, and then just before he got his chance, he got injured, which was sad ... But he's been the outstanding back in the [Super Rugby] competition this year, and what's great is that he's not just a basher. (Identified by Beeno the year before last latest!!)

'He's tough to bring down, but also has unbelievable touches ... What I really like about him is those soft touches that can put players away, and he doesn't just run into contact, he has beautiful feet and can step the defender. He's an all-round player, and he can be a great weapon for us.'

Jean de Villiers made his long-awaited comeback from injury for the final quarter of the clash, replacing Kriel at outside centre, with De Allende playing out the full 80 minutes in the No 12 jersey.

It’s where he could well remain for much of the international season.

'I've always thought that 12 was his best position,' Meyer commented. 'A 12 needs to be a distributor, but also with the way we play, he needs to be a guy who can set up the ball ... We need depth there and are looking much brighter at centre now.'

World XV coach Robbie Deans also lavished praise on De Allende.

Damian’s playing tremendous rugby, he has been all year. He’s just doing the right things, and he definitely adds another dimension to the Boks’ game. Things happen when he’s playing.”

NOWHERE FOR DR MOZZZZ AND CARD TO HIDE. Its all just exactly as I have been saying for year s.

Beeno well ahead of the curve!!!!

I wish I could get rid of the image in my mind, but alas I still see Kuridrani stutter stepping and then feeding Damien a mouthfull of sweaty palm as he raced away. Will that happen next week. I hope not.

Damian was spectacular against the world xv, he'll get better as he gains more experience in the bok setup. I know de Allende will face tougher opponents in the coming weeks though he is more than capable of playing well against them as well.

Take note NZ and AUS, we have a world class inside centre in the making and he's only getting warmed up for what lies ahead!

Pity we cant wait until he does play well against Oz or NZ. I doubt very much NZ is concerned. As for Oz their second best team saw off his challenge a few weeks back. South Africa used to be a country of rugby players who did their talking on the field.

De Allende adds something to our rugby on attack, lets see where it takes us before we start issuing warnings.

Nonu is superior to Damian and so to their backups. What Saffers consider excellent NZ consider mandatory skills you pick up as a kid. There is too much hype too soon.

Delande is now the form inside centre in World Rugby. Many would agree or at least have him as one of the top 3. His attack is stronger than his tackling in open play- and he will be tested against better oppostion on defence.
Sunny Bills Offloads have been surpassed by the Delande Hand off. He has the best hand off in the game at the moment.
When he gets the ball  speed he is going to break tackles. Nonu is a good allrounder, but Delande is in top form.
It is great to have a young player coming through in the backline to make the position his own. Jean will have to compete for outside center with Jessie Kriel. It will be interesting when Meyer will start Jean- and if it will be outside or inside centre.
Jaque Fourie and Frans Steyn are possible injury cover.

 Desert Disaster
The following will be smashed by the Aussies and New Zealand if they play for the Springboks (likely stupid selections highlighted) and that would be the reason for potential Springbok losses:-
*    JP PIetersen  -  was way below par this year as he is pace-deficient*    Ruan Pienaar - slowed down to a snail in ball distribution;*   Morne Steyn - protect us against this match-loser *    Francois Louw - too slow to compete in SH conditions*    Victor Matfield - was not good enough in 2014 and will be same in 2015*   Jannie du Plessis - is way past his sell-by date
Kriel will not duck his responsibilities in defence - like De Jongh did in the Kuridrani case -  and leave it to other players to clear up the resultant mess.   De Allende has been up against Ma'a Nonu before in the Hurricanes game  and did better in that game than Nonu, while he was absolutely alone in trying to shore up a hopeless Stormers backline against the Brumbies - he won't be in that situation playing in the RC.
However, I do expect this from you who want Morne Steyn at 10, Francois Steyn at 12 and Jacques Fourie at 13 and who thinks that Kirchner is a world class full back. That backline could only be regarded as idiocy supreme.

Lets quote Mozart on the De Allende issue:-
"I wish I could get rid of the image in my mind, but alas I still see Kuridrani stutter stepping and then feeding Damien a mouthfull of sweaty palm as he raced away. Will that happen next week. I hope not."
This is a continuation of the lie involved - Kuridrani stepped DE JONGH not De Allende and De Allende had to come from the side to try and clear up the mess caused by De Jongh.   Kuridrani was so unsettled as a result as the tackle miss by De Allende he lost the ball possession five meters further  and a scrum followed - he did not RACE away as claimed  by Mozart - another lie.

"Pity we cant wait until he does play well against Oz or NZ. I doubt very much NZ is concerned. As for Oz their second best team saw off his challenge a few weeks back. South Africa used to be a country of rugby players who did their talking on the field.

Mozart is an embarrassment for misrepresentations on this site.  In the Brumbies game he referred to the game where the whole Stormers backline  bar De Allende and to a lesser extent Senatla and Kolbe  failed.   Especially De Jongh and Leyds being piss-poor.  Eat crow Mozart while trying to evaluate the following stats for the game involved, especially since De Allende was rated as the 12 of the week in that game as well:-

de Allende0/003/4/17118412107/20/010/0

Are you not embarrassed by the tripe you  constantly spout on this site - Mozart.

Sharbok Jesse Kriel with his footwork, acceleration and vision is looking very good. Meyer needs to grow this combo and fast as he has lost valuable time already.

Mozart and Desert Disaster won't give up on their prejudice against De Allende and Kriel.  I can remember what I wrote in 2013 about De Allende early in 2013 - when I quoted what Dobson said about De Allende and Mozart went onto his normal attack on a player he has never seen playing before that - he really was vicious.   He claimed that De Allende lacks pace and a string of other things that still continues in most of hsi postings.
Nothing much has changed since then - bar Mozart accepting grudgingly that De Allende will be in the team - with doomsday predictions attached to that acceptance.   After all De Allende is too young to fit into Mozart's conception of players and Kriel is even worse - he is even younger.  Mozart is the strong supporter of Frans Steyn and Jacque Fourie and there absence according to him spells disaster.
Insofar as Desert Disaster is concerned - he has dreamt up that De Allende is physically to weak to play at 12 and he will never give up on that - keeping up the  crap despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.   His ideal center is Frans Steyn and everyone else is not up to standard.   He absolutely refuse to see how poor Steyn is because of lack of pace and claim all wonderful attributes that Steyn factually does not produce.   The prejudice against De Allande is so overwhelming that it must be result of rugby lunacy.
The comments of those two characters makes for good comedy.

With due respect De Allende played both SB Williams and Ma'a Nonu and in both games was better than his opponents in both line breaks, defenders beaten and ball carry distances.
Stormers - Chiefs game
Williams0/000/8/113001434/00/010/0
de Allende0/100/5/53823117/40/000/0   Hurricanes - Stormers game
Nonu0/002/6/542111113/10/000/0
de Allende0/001/10/166818105/10/010/0
In the two games -
*   Williams and Nonu combined carried balls 72 meters against the 106 meters by De Allende;
*   Williams and Nonu combined made 1 line break against the 3 of De Allende;
*   Williams and Nonu combined beat 2 tackles against the 11 by De Allende
So I have no argument with the statements about De Allende - he is better than the two best NZ 12's and I would be very careful if I were them.

Moz, you want DdA to prove himself against proper oponents like Oz and NZ. The only way for him to do that is to  be constantly picked for the boks in his most comfortable position. He deserves a shot, and is getting it. That's all a lot of Bok supporters are asking for. a 15 or 20mins here and there won't do the trick. The same goes for a couple of other positions,  but we have players like Jannie, Beast and Matfield being played into the ground in games where we could have tried out other options. Jean was captain, but there were games where we could have tested other options.Players like Guthro, Bakkies, Juan, Jacque Fourie and Britz were given opportunities where we could have tried younger talent.BTW, Fransie played very little tests at 12 against Oz snd NZ. In fact, he playplayed very few games for the Boks since 2007, he has a record of turning his back on Bok Rugby, yet he is punted as a must for the WC, despite his fitness issues for the last 3 years?

de Allende has looked good but it is early days yet. Let's see how he does against OZ that will give us a more accurate reading than the World team. We have to see him perform consistently & see how he reacts when teams figure him out.
Don't worry Beeno, it is a small crow you should be able to digest it with minimum burpage Do you want a side order of egg? I believe they are normally served together.

I think that De Allende was the no 12 choice of the week in 9 of the 16 games he played in Super 15.   The second best was Williams with 3.   So if the opposition playes and centers have not figured him out by now - will they ever figure him out?
You must also take into account that he was playing in a backline consisting of some of the worst players in Super 15 - what will happen with better backline players supporting him?

I accept that and agree - but the performance of opposing players is an indication of what is possible,   I hope McCaw does not try and tickle De Allende without some help - he may end up where Fransie Steyn ended up.
