9. Pienaar/FDP (If/When FDP is fit he will start)10. Lambie (Pollard impact player)12. Delande13. Jean/ Jessie Kriel14. Habana15. Willie Leroux/ Kircher11. Mvovo/ JP
Their is a good mix of players that can play in more than one position.  It is also for the most part a very experienced team .
It also representative for more ethnic groups of South Africa.
Their is no need for the one dimensional Jan Crashball fontein.
This is not my first choice backline, but it is decent.
Lambie did have a good game. The main thing was he varied his play to choose better options. It was not a robotic display of kick or run.

With respect - Pienaar was poor yesterday and not much better in the other tests he played in over the past month.   Du Preez will be in the squad come hell or high water - but is he really a performer of quality anymore?   Neither Meyer or you or I would know what he can produce anymore.
Lambie had a very good game yesterday - I was delighted he did play and not Steyn.  I think that in some games Pollard will still be the flyhalf, but the choice is between those two.
I am not at all sure whether De Villiers should be selected  at all.  Last week he showed very near to zero in the game and was not really up to test standard.  With a further injury that will keep him out of the game  for the next month  I think he should rather not make himself available for selection - since a further absence from match-playing would definitely not contribute to his performances in the WC.
I hope Meyer is not silly enough to put Kirchner ion the team.   He ran straight at defenders - no plan to do anything else and was to my mind ineffective.
However,  I do not think that in the main Meyer would veer from  his problem relating to silly selections and we can expect a full dose of geriatric powder=pgg pl;ayers in the squad.

@Clevermike, I dont think we have a starting scrumhalf better than Pienaar- if Fourie Dupreez does not get fit. Reinach is decent off the bench.
JDV has at least 50% chance of not making the squad due to the latest injury. I would have Jean on the bench and play him back into form. Matfield is a competent captain- the most capped Bok of all time.
I would rather have Kolbe as backup fullback to Leroux.
My Starting team (If Fit)- and given the realistic timescale of less than 6 weeks. It is too late to start bringing in players with no test experience.
9. FDP (Pienaar has had lots of game time and been solid). 10. Lambie (Pollard)12. Delande (Jean)13. Kriel14. Habana15. LeRoux/ Kolbe (Kolbe off the bench could be good)11. Mvovo/ JP. JP pace has deserted him.
Sentala is a possible wild card. He should at least be in the squad.
The Boks need an impact bench in case they are not winning the game. The bench should get stronger with injured players back.

 Sensible comments Sharkbok.
Mvovo showed more than either of JP or Hendricks.

What about Fourie du Preez?   His last game of real rugby has been 14 months ago - when he was injured due to lack of fitness.   He has had a few games in Japan in the period January to March this year - but that is on a level that is equivalent to what you could say is Varsity Club Rugby in SA or even lower.   I am afraid that Meyer will select him for the squad based on zero performance and on the basis of reputation of a player he was in 2007, since his lst two tests he was basically average - nothing special.
Although Pienaar has had lots of game time - he has been going backwards over the last few tests at an alarming rate.   Against the Argentinians on Saturday he had a shocker.   A number of his kicks were poor and aimless - but the cherries on the top were the fact that he -
*  lost ball possession when any reasonable player would have scored a try (if Reinach or DE Klerk has played a try would definitely have been scored); and
*  his most atrocious kick was kicking the ball from the Springboks half of the field over the dead ball line.
He made similar school boy level errors in the other tests as well.   Anybody who have any faith in Pienaar producing anything in the WC needs to be in an asylum - normal he cannot be.  Fact is this is the position where Meyer - with his selection strategy - let the Springboks down completely.
Lets face facts as well.   Jean is going to have a real gamble - he showed nothing at all after his horrific injury in November 2014 - either on pre-season CC games against the weakest CC sides nor during the circa 100 minutes of test rugby this year - if anything he showed a serious lack of pace.   He is injured again and is bound to be totally without match fitness at all during the WC.
That brings me to your comment on the captaincy.  If a player is selected because we need a captain and that selection is based on performances of more than 4 years ago - it is lunacy in the extreme.   Matfield was a passenger on Saturday and a similar passenger during Super rugby this year.   Anybody who selects a player because he would be a captain - without the player meeting performance requirements - must be suffering from a serious degree of rugby knowledge deficiency.   The fact is a captain should be the first choice selection for the team in the position he is playing in and Matfield performance-wise is way behind the other potential locks in SA.   His performance record since his return from retirement has been a shocker - he would not been in any team in the top 8 rated teams in world rugby with that record.
I think that Burger would be a miles better choice as a captain and so would Vermeulen be.

Mike,I, like many share the same dissatisfaction of Ruan and Skinny Victor, but the reality is Meyer has left us with zero alternatives. And it is for these same reasons Fourie and Jean(if fit) will go to the RWC.

What is your backline Saffex?
Probably Curry Cup flavour of the week players, or under 18's Baby Bok's that "you" have identified.
9. Hougaard- The worst scrumhalf performance in the Northern Hemisphere ever. 10. Jantjies- Fine in a loose game- but not test match material12. Serfontein- Better than Jean at the same age.13. JJ- The best centre since Gerber14. Pat Howard- another Fatty15. Jaco Taute- cart horse11. Someone that is young, regardless of current form- Hell they are young so lets give them extra points for potential- even though they will still be a cart horse in their prime.

Sharktwat mine would be:

15. Willie 14. de Allende/Kriel 13. Kriel 12. Serf/de Allende 11. Senatla 10. Pollard 9. Faf

Bench of Hougaard (in brilliant form at 9 for the Bulls in his last two games), Jantjies/Lambie and Vorster......with the likes of Reinach, Goosen, Frans Steyn, Odendaal, Frans Venter, v/Wyk, JP, Habana, Sithole, Kolbe and Combrink competing for the rest of the back squad spots.

Its a tough call on who to play at centre between de Allende, Serf and Kriel.......I'd be tempted to mix it about in the game.

One certainty is that hasbeens like Kirchner, Jean, Mvovo, Hendricks (never been) , Morne, Pienaar and du Preez would not smell my squad......much like Brits, Heinke v/d Merwe, Matfield, Flip, Louw and Alberts would not in the forwards.

I would not pick any of the players you listed as the team Dave allegedly supported.
I think that he never supported Taute at 15.  I had a battle with him when I said Taute is no center and he claimed he is.  I do not think that taute at present is a frontline choice of Dave i any event.
I think that Howard was never his first choice player at 13 - he was jsut mentioned as a potential player to eb considered.
JJ has been off his list for a while now and I do not think he would consider him now.
Jantjies never was a first choice flyhalf - more a back-up flyhalf
However, I would not select any player you listed as Dave's team for any position on the day team - maybe Serfontein on the bench.  The rest are just not up to standard.

Bench of Hougaard, Jantjies/Lambie and Vorster.....

.with the likes of ReinachGoosenFrans Steyn, Odendaal, Frans Venterv/WykJPHabana, Sithole, Kolbe and Combrink competing for the rest of the back squad spots.

A typical Saffex team.
The bench has like 15 backline players. and you want to play them all in the same game.........
Saffex You cant ever commit to a team. Just like your Springbok Squads of 100 or so-that change about 50% each year. Each new list is a few new players, and a few just disappear without at trace.
Then you deny every supporting the losers like Cart Horse Taute and your beloved JJ.
The reason you choose so many players-is so you can say you backed that player all along.
In the real world, coaches have to select teams of around 30 players for the World Cup. They are limited by reality- unlike you.

With respect the Coach can only pick 14 backline players for the WC squad.  Those 14 normally provide for -
*   3 scrummies*   3 flyhalfs*   2 full backs*   3 centers*   3 wings
So looking at that my selections would be the following:-
Scrummies  -   Reinach, De Klerk, Hougaard *1Flyhalfs      -   Lambie, Pollard, Steyn *2Centers      -   De Allende, Kriel, Serfontein *3Wings        -   Habana, Mvovo, Senatla *4Full back    -   Le Roux *5
*1   I would not pick either Du Preez because of his injury situation and lack of rugby over the past 14 months and also his very average performance he had last year in June, with due regard also to the fact that he is already 33 years of age and would never achieve full match-fitness at his age without a very strict conditioning programme - which was not possible bearing in mind his latest injury.  Pienaar also id not the player eh sued to eb and his last two matches was really disappointing - while the other matches he played in this year showed very average performance.  That being the case there is only Hougaard left as a third option - and the reason I went for him is that he can also play on the wing if needed.   However, as Fraaf said elsewhere the present scenario has been brought on by Meyer and his tendency to select players he is acquainted with.
*2   I would not have picked Morne Steyn - but I do not believe that there are any other real candidates at present.  Goosen had virtually no game time and Jantjies caves in under pressure.  Morne is and remains a poor third option and one can only hope he si not needed during the game time.  Lambie si a must as he can also play at full back.
*3   To my mind the latest injury rules out De Villiers and I cannot see any other third option than Serfontein.  I would have preferred Vorster - but he was also injured on Saturday.  Francois Steyn is a definite No-No - his performances in Super 15 over the past three years was too poor to be considered.
*4    I am totally unhappy about the wing situation - especially since JP has lost all the speed over the past year and he is a regular cart-horse at present.
*5    I only picked one player here and would rather see another wing or center in the squad that could be usable should the rather frail situation in some positions falls flat
I cannot see how any reasonable coach could pick De Villiers and Du Preez - bearing in mind their injury problems and the lack of match-fitness.   Even his last test De Villiers clearly showed he was not up to test standard yet - he was slow and not effective at all -  and there would be no further opportunities to deal with that deficiency.  Du Preez is in a similar position, but he had even less rugby than De Villiers had over the last 14 months.

Saffex a few months ago you were bemoaning Meyer for not including the best centre since Gerber as a Bok.
Now JJ is not even in your squad- neither is Taute. Do you still support them?
You will always back the new players over the older players- only to drop the same new players when newer players arrive.
Your squads change so much over the course of one year- it shows your are the Roedolf Strauli of fans.
You dont have confidence in your own selections so you change them all the time.
Older players especially fall victim to your constant changing as they are taking up places for the next batch of new players.

Well Moz lets get something straight here.....there has never been an issue with Hougaard at 9, the fact that some clowns reckon there was speaks volumes for their ignorance.

Its hardly a surprise that clueless Meyer has overlooked Hougaard in the season the lad is on fire.....I mean this twit finds favour in average Pienaar and ignores another class act in Faf.

Its the kind of short sighted out of touch calls you would make.

Hougaard ahead of Pienaar anyday......its not even a close call.......but you conservative chaps see it differently and you wonder why we are languishing at number 5 in the rankings.

No dunce Shark, as Mike correctly pointed out I have not selected Taute of JJ for some time now you idiot.

Get your facts straight you stupid man......I said JJ's performance against NZ was the best we have seen from a Bok 13 since Gerber.......get the difference.

Do I rate JJ and Taute, damn right I do......are they the best in their positions right now - no they are not......are they test material, damn right they are.

As for me changing my side regularly, that's a lie, the core of my side stays the same, but it evolves to include the best new talent emerging.

Have I replaced Willie, Beast, Bismark, Strauss and Vermeulen with younger players you stupid man?

But lets see how much you can back your assertions up by providing the evidence of me changing my side regularly in a year - you LIAR
