Not a bad starting XV, but I doubt very much that Kirchner will start ahead of Willie. Meyer has developed his gameplan on the basis of Willie's playmaking ability, that's too much of a commitment. He conceals the limitations of our centres and is an extension of the halfbacks, bringing everyone else into the game. He is a key decision maker. Along with 9,he is our chief decision maker.
Louw isn't good enough for the World Cup. Brussow.
And if Meyer selects Lambie at 10 ever again he is a damn fool! He let Meyer down badly on the EOYT.
Put Strauss ahead of Bismarck and you have a very complete team.
Morné or Pollard will do, either one is good enough to start.
Frans at 12 too. I would like to see what DA can do at 13. We already know what Fourie has.

Given the disaster tour last year it was clear that we need more fetchers in the backrow to get cleaner possession from the rucks.
Northern Hemisphere Refs favour the defending teams at rucks, with Southern Hemishpere refs tending to favour the attacking teams.
The games are going to be on Football pitches which are of much better condition, which should mean quicker ball.
Also it will be UK Summer/Autumn and not the routine winter mud bathes.

It hasn't been much of a Summer in England. The NH teams have better appreciation for laying a foundation and competing at the breakdown and for possession in general. If it doesn't rain, our superior fitness and speed should overcome that. However, SA are traditionally weak at the breakdown. We like our big ball carrying forwards at the expense of breakdown specialists. Brussow and Coetzee are our best in this regard. Brussow is the only fetcher in world rugby who I have seen overcome a rampaging opposition pack. He is touted as small, but he has gorilla-like strength.

The first person to the point of tackle and the ensuing ruck must clean out- which should be the openside flank, or the other loosies. The tight 5 should hit the rucks backward- as well as getting involved with ball retention.
Backs should not get pulled into rucks very often, otherwise forwards end up in the backline. Matfield loves to play centre when the backs get pulled into rucks.

It's inevitable that backs are going to get involved. It's quite common to have your blindside wing operate as a cleaner. Your 12 is also in a perfect position to operate as a third flanker. But in general both help support the forwards. Successful teams at the breakdown do this. If you really watched Damian and de Jongh this year you would have seen both operate extensively at the breakdown, particularly on wide-wide sets before the Stormers returned play the opposite direction or on second and third phase! Best and most organized of the SA teams this year in that regard.

Your team has serious weaknesses and I have changed it on the basis of present performances not reputation:-
1. Beast- Kitshoff2. Bismaark Adrian Strauss3. Malherbe Nykana4. Eben Eztebeth 5. Mostert PSDT6. Louw Brussouw ( need fetchers in backrow)7 Schalk Burger, Marcell Coetzee, 8. Vermuelen 9. Reinach Faff- quick service10. Pollard Lambie12. Delande 13. Jean Serfomtein 14. Senatla Mapoe11. Habana 15. Willie Leroux
I doubt very much whether either Du Preez or Fourie would make it through the RC without major injury - the result of deficient match-fitness. They have not played any rugby since March and is on the injury list. How did they get injured when not playing rugby at all? If it is off the field injuries what will happen on the field? By the way Du Preez only played 12 matches over the last 15 months - so what can we expect in his case? If Du Preez and Fouie do not play in the RC they should NOT be selected for the WC squad - it is way too big a gamble.
You left out the best scrummaging tighthead in SA and put in Jannie who has gone back in leap and bounds over the last two years. Jannie may and I say may be on the bench - but I think that is unlikely as well since a place has to be found for Nyakane.
I do not think that Morne would be the back-up flyhalf. I remember with horror his last three tests for the Springbok when -
* a five meter out kick by Morne charged down by the Argentinians and De Allende desperately managing to prevent the Argentinians from scoring a try;
* a kick directly into touch by Morne from his own half in the last minutes of the second Argentine test putting the Springboks under serious pressure with a huge chance of losing the game through a penalty or dropped goal; and
* the Morne Steyn special in the Perth test last year - when the Aussies targeted his defence and Morne missed 55% of his tackle attempts and that disaster when he failed to find touch with a penalty line kick - delivering a victory to the Aussies in the process.
If Morne was any good he would have been the starting flyhalf for Stade Francais - but he only starts when Plisson is injured - that should tell you the standard he is up to.
Matfield is a joke in bad taste. He is not of any value in Tight 5 play and useless in all other facets of play. Your following statement is somewhat vague and not 100% correct:-
"Matfield loves to play centre when the backs get pulled into rucks."
It should read as follows:-
"Matfield barely if ever enters rucks and loves to play centre irrespective if whether backs get pulled into rucks or not."
That is part of the reason why Matfield's contribution to tight 5 play is minus zero. It forces the loosies to be involved in Tight 5 play and cause us to play with 14 men instead of 15 with a passenger moonlighting in the backline. That will be disastrous if we want any degree of forward dominance in matches.

"Present performances" you say????
2. Strauss (had a bad season so its reputation only)
5. PSDT (reputation only, when last did he play)
6. Brussouw (reputation only)
9. Reinach (a personal choice only, no reputation or form)
10. Pollard (His last good match was in round 4 against the Cheetahs - Reputation only)
10 . Lambie (When last did he play - reputation only)
13. Jean (reputation only) Serfontein (reputation only)
14. Senatla (have achieved nothing in the S15, except in the one match against the lowest ranked teams - reputation only)
11. Habana (Reputation only)
15. Willie le Roux (reputation only - when last did he do anything of note)
So with "present" I take it you only mean the thoughts that are "present" about a player in your severely fallible and inadequate memories...
You are the first one that should keep your mouth shut about "reputation" or "present performances". If you select at least three players in a group that have had no "present performances" in at least 3 months due to injuries, we all know your are talking bullsh.it...

The Trooth Fairy
All the players you mentioned was good before their injuries and most played as late as April as well. The duds I mentioned all played rugby after that date and proved their inability to perform. I do not rate players because they were injured as not proving anything. I looked at what they produced before they were injured.
You have really proved nothing but to provide a list of selected players from the injury list. The following played extremely well before injury:-
Du Toit, Reinach, Senatla and Willie le Roux. The latter had very good games after their return from the Sevens and Injury.
Where is the other dud who was injured - Fransie Steyn - on your list? Alberts came back from injury and had one of the worst performances ever.

In a way you are correct - "nothing is sure. That is why I will not even try to give a Match day squad, let alone a Test squad."
My problem is that Meyer is consistently doing the same thing - making the worst selections imaginable. So I will wait and see what he comes up with over the next two months, The squad as announced do not make me confident that he would select the strongest team available - but I will still wait and see what he comes up with and how his teams performs .
