Ex Super Rugby
London - Former New Zealand star Mils Muliaina has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, his club Connacht has confirmed on Saturday.
The 34-year-old full-back, who won 100 caps for the All Blacks over a nine-year period, is suspected of involvement in an incident in Cardiff last month.
He was pictured on television being led away by police officers following his Irish club's 14-7 loss at Gloucester in the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals on Friday.
"Connacht Rugby can confirm that player Mils Muliaina is currently assisting the South Wales Police with enquiries relating to an alleged incident in Cardiff in March of this year," said a statement from Connacht.
"As this is a legal matter, Connacht Rugby will be making no further comment at this time."
A spokesman from Gloucestershire Police confirmed that a man in his 30s had been arrested at Gloucester's Kingsholm Stadium "on suspicion of sexual assault in relation to an incident in Cardiff in March".
The spokesman added: "The man has been handed over to officers from South Wales Police, who are investigating the incident."
Well well well! This is not looking good at all. However I do urge all to allow the law to take it course and not jump to conclusions prematurely.
Our condolences to the lady concerned - especially if it was indeed Mils!
