More racist quotas

 I am for merit selection irrespective of colour.
If 15 black players take the field in Springbok colours and are selected on merit I will still support them.
But do not have quotas.......

Although I do understand the need to restore historical imbalances, the concern I have with quotas is this:
Lets say in 2018 that 50% of players must be "black".  (Of this amount 25% must be indigenous black people only).I assume that "black" also means coloured people, and descendants of India and other parts of Asia. That black just means not white. Or is the 50% representation really that 50% of the team must not be white, as well as other races like descendants of India/Asia. Nizaam Carr is Muslim.
-Does that mean in 2022, that 75% of players must be black. (50% must be indigenous black people)
-Then in 2025 that 90% of players must be black. (75% must be indigenous black people)
-Then in 2030 that 100% of players must be black....(95% must be indigenous black people)

 I'm a tad confused. After reading the above article, now I hear Oregon Hoskins on the radio this morning (in NZ) basically saying it's a load of twaddle and that things are progressing nicely with the integration and that everyone's happy!

Who is right here? I seem to remember Mike posting a similar article 2-3 months ago and then SARU saying the exact opposite then too!!

 Moola, it's a constant mess. Every-time some or other government official wants to make a name for himself, he motors off his mouth in the press about rugby. In SA, it is mostly the white and brown people that loves their rugby and that is reflected in the demographics of the teams. Whites are about 10% of the populace and the colored (which refer to people of Koi, San(Bushmen) and Malaysian decent) are even less than that. I don't know of any people of Indian decent playing rugby. The Koi and San are actually the only local South Africans. The so called ethnic blacks are actually migrants from central Africa. They are the Nguni (Xhosa and Zulu), Suthu, Swazi, Venda and Shangane, I might have missed a few and some of the spelling may be off.They form the large majority of our populace (about 75% I think). Some play a bit of rugby, mostly in the Eastern Cape and a bit in the Free State but that's it. The Politicians know that rugby is important to the minorities and use it as a tool to achieve various agenda's by threatening to mess with it to divert attention from other issues. The Bok emblem is also under constant scrutiny. And then there is also the almost constant changing of place and Town names just because they can. Amongst other things its a display of power... I think. Things will get better, but it's gonna take some time.
