Mozart and the De Allende saga

One has to go back to 2012 when De Allende was first seen in some CC games - mostly coming off the bench and in the CC final that year when eh started as a center for WP in the CC Final.  Since he was never in the picture as a Under 19 or Under 21 player at any stage and did not come up ever before in the media I was curious about the guy and came across a statement made by Dobson in which he stated inter alia that he found De Allende such a good player that he thought De Allende was so good - he himself will decide about his future in rugby.  
When I posted the said comments, Mozart nearly had a fit about that statement at the time and condemned De Allende outright.   Problem at the time was that according to Mozart Fransie Steyn was the only center of value who should together with De Villiers be the center pairing of the Springboks.
That anti De Allende campaign by Mozart has been unrelenting ever since.  De Allende first appeared on Super 15 level in 2013 and played for the Stormers occasionally in the absence of De Villiers or De Jongh and did very well in that season - but never a word other than condemnation on the part of Mozart.   In 2014 he had a top class season and even Meyer admitted that he was so good he was called up to the Kune 2014 squad before he could play a game.  However, Meyer's favourite - Fransie Steyn - was in the squad as well.  At the time De Villiers was injured and shortly before the tests started De Allende was injured as well.  That left the way open for either Serfontein or Steyn to start in the June 2014 tests.  However, the day before the side for the first test in June 2014 was announced Steyn left the squad in a huff - probably because Steyn was unlikely to be selected in the first instance as a result of a very poor performance in Super 15 that year as a center.  The latter did kick at goal well, but his attack and defensive play was not up to standard at all.  
As a result of the injury preventing Se Allende's selection in the June 2014 tests, De Allende made his first appearance in the mud-bath test in Pretoria against Argentina.  He was the only backline player in the Springbok team that showed anything in attacking play in that test - but Mozart cottoned onto the fact that De Allende missed two tackles in the game and that was enough reason to condemn him outright.  be it as it may the real problem in that test was that the Springbok props collapsed in the test and what the backline got from the forwards were scraps and bad balls rarely reaching the centers.   His next test was again against Argentina was also played in a scenario where our forwards failed - but De Allende has a very good match.  Again De Allende was condemned by Mozart despite the fact that he was in fact good in that test as is evidenced by the following stats:-
 de Allende0/001/2/53311035/10/000/0 De Allende despite the above was not selected by Meyer and consequently only played one more time for a short while in the subsequent test - he replaced De Villiers after the latter was injured in the Wales test, when he had 23 minutes playing time when the backline rarely saw the ball - in that 23 minutes the forward collapse in that game resulted De Allende never handling the ball at all.  
Insofar as Mozart is concerned the situation became a critical point in 2015.  Despite Steyn's poor record in Super 15 Mozart';s campaign in favour of Steyn and his consequential condemnation of De Allende reached  crescendo levels and his condemnation became almost hysterical.  Despite the fact that his defense was statistically better than Steyn's - the defense of De Allende was cottoned on as a reason for outright condemnation.  He was soon joined by Desert Fox - another Steyn admirer in that campaign.  When the two could not prove that in virtually all games De Allende's defense was not as unacceptable as they made it out to be - they started off with a campaign against De Allende based on an outright lie about the Brumbies play-off game - where Mozart claimed he lined up to defend against Kuridrani - which in fact was a lie since De Jongh was lined up face Kuridrani  and when De Jongh made no attempt to tackle Kuridrani when he stepped to his inside De Allende had to come from the inside to tackle Kuridrani.  De Allende has to come from the inside to tackle Kuridrani.  De Allende missed that tackle - but Mozart never once mentioned a word about the fact that s a result of the tackle attempt by De Allende Kuridrani lost control of the ball and knocked it on. 
That caused another problem for the vicious pair of Mozart and DF and despite the fact that De Allende made for a center the extraordinary number of 21 tackle attempts in the Aussie test - he was blamed for missing 6 of those tackle attempts and the outright condemnation reached crescendo levels, since they could not dault him in other facets of play.   as is evidenced by the following stats from the RC tests:-

The crescendo levels about the defensive deficiencies of De Allende was constantly over-emphasized and his contribution in attacking play was ignored.  The center combination of Se Allende and Kriel got huge praise for their performance in the first two tests, but was broken up by Meyer to cater for De Villiers - who in the two tests somewhat below par in performance after his long absence from top level rugby    That being said the missed tackle ratio in two of the above tests were too high - but has improved upon in the AB and last Argentina test.
Meyer made a mistake of not playing De Allende in the Japanese test and the result was a real disaster.   He brought back De Allende for the Samoa test on Saturday and his attacking play was outstanding so Mozart started with a new idiom to attack by calling his attacking play "tractoring" producing nothing for to benefit the team.  All of that because he still supports the selection of Fransie.
We must understand that Mozart's attack against De Allende is based on the campaign to get Steyn into the Springbok squad  and be seen us such.        
         

Nice numbers but they don't really show anything. Tell me his role in the games, what moves he was a part of, what patterns the teams were running, what the opposition did in each of those instances and then tell me how Damian fared. So far, you look at numbers and create an impression based on how those numbers look to you. Your entire reading of the game comes down to how you see numbers, not a reading of the actual game. You get way in over your head as a result.
Right now you like Damian for reasons you do not fully understand i the basis of numbers you can't contextualize. This has become deeply rooted through over emotional relativism, whereby in your own mind it is a battle between him and another player. In all of your disputes you become entrenched in tribal an "us and them" mental state. There is always your pet player an evil counterpoint you must vanquish. 

 Mike thanks for the long epalnation re Allende. The simpe fact is if you have reasobaly good eyes so you can see what happens on the filed and more than one lonely brain cell the only conclusion you can reach is that Damian isa very good player.
Its all so obvious that any view to the contrary must be considered as trolling. An amaterish trolling as good trolling should always have some elements of truth.
