He won the 100 meter breast stroke in world record time. He actually spoecializes in the 50 meter breast stroke and has an excellent chance to won that one as well. Expensive problem for ABSA - they pay R1 000 000 for each Workld Record broken by a SAFFA
New World record for Cameron Van den Burgh
He simply dominated that race...I also saw Schoeman can still motor as well.
Mozart I think there are a number of other medal chances as wellI am thinkking of the 50M breast stroke (van den Burgh), 200 meter butterfly (Le Clos), 4x100 Medley (Backstroke not sure who will swim that one, butterfly - Le Clos, breast stroke - Van der Burgh and freestyle - Schoeman). In the latter race I observed that Le Clos was faster than Lochlie in the butterfly in the individual medley - but our problem will be in the backstroke component.
Schoeman could also surprise in the 50 meter freestyle and butterfly.
What a champ!
What a true South African.
My fifteenth son is due to be born in a month, Alhamdulillah. I will call him Kamran bin din Burgh
If i could swim as fast as he could, those American naval vessels would never have found me!
Mozart
There is a very real chance that Chad le Clos could win tonight in the 200 meter butterfly. He only needs to do someting like a 3/100th of a second better to win and if he was not as far back at the last 50 meter turn as he was - he would have walked the semis. Lets hope for the best.
What is going on with the US swimmers? I really am not surprised by the poor performances of Phelps - he definitely is past it. However, despite his win in the 400 IM, Lochlie is also below par. Greves in backstroke was also good - but the times not really near WC record times. And the Aussies have won no swimming titles yet as well. For them the highlight was the drug-infested 2000 Olympics in Sydney- when Thorpe with a load of undetectable drugs from that California factory - ruled the roost. By now they are very average and do not have a strong team.
50 m ...breastroke ? is that an event at the Olympics ?
