The most scenic rugby stadium in the world from an environmental perspective - Newlands has been used as a rugby stadium for 125 years.   There are some real celebrations over the coming weekend and the match on Saturday is also dedicated to history of the stadium.


It would be interesting to know whether there is an older stadium which features international matches.   


There is pressure to move rugby to the new Green Point stadium - but I personally would hate to see Newlands being closed.

Moving to Green Point would be sacrile ge to WP fans...Newlands a beautiful suburb with a lovely setting and atmosphere with the cricket ground as well, the most beautiful of all cricket grounds and sporting schools like SACS, Bishops and Rondebosch in the near vicinity.

Green Point on the otherhand is slummy with ugly flats, apartments and beggars and thieves...security problems and plagued with prostitutes and faggots plying their trade.

Very seedy...an atmosphere that will completely dampen your enjoyment of the game.
