I agree with you - it is unlikely that there would be any new caps, since other than Kriel and perhaps Koch - all the other candidates for selection are already Springboks. I would not say that there will be no new Springboks in the total squad of 32 players, since there will have to be some players who will need replacement as a matter of urgency. In the 32 man squad there are players that would be seriously considered and the squad will look different from Meyer's last list of players for the EOYT. Players to be out of that group and existing Springboks like the following have all got serious question marks hanging over them - as their performances are just not good enough, unless there are serious improvement in the remaining Super 15 games, since at present their selection is based entirely on reputation - not performance:-
Jannie du Plessis, Willem Alberts, JP Pietersen, Nizaam Carr, Oupa Mohoje, Victor Matfield, Francois Steyn, Morne Steyn, Gurthro Steenkamp.
Then there are players with serious question marks - whose positions should indeed be under threat in the squad like the following or who are doubtful because of injuries:-
Jean de Villiers, Bismarck du Plessis, Marcel van der Merwe
There need to be some serious house-cleaning. The selection of the above would be seriously-embarrassing, since they would definitely flop in the WC and would cause the Springboks early departure from the competition.

Koch deserves a chance from the bench and the best 13 that actually plays 13 regularly must be given a chance. I haven't seen enough games to know who that is though.

To be honest, the best 13 has been Mapoe...

Wow imagine limiting yourself to only selecting a player that has only played 13 regularly.....so the likes of de Allende and Jessie Kriel would not be considered if we adopted this short- sighted approach??

No Saf, not limiting to regular 13's, I just think the best regular 13 should also be given a fair chance. I also think De Allende should be given a fair chance at 12, before being tried at 13 again. There is enough pressure playing for the Boks, no need to ad to that by playing in a unfamiliar position as well.
