Ouma Victoria - the physically weakest lock in SA - has signed a contract to play for Northampton for a year.
The Bulls could not be quicker to release him from his coaching contract with them - they used greased lightning for that purpose. They were delighted to get rid of the attacking coach, who does not know anything about attacking rugby. I think the players he tried to boss around must have thrown a huge party.
Sorry becs - I hate to bring you bad news - but being 1 000 miles away from Pretoria the celebration in Pretoria is so boisterous - we can faintly hear it here.

Yes, I am aware.
Gone down like a lead balloon with many here !!
Am quite surprised too....given he reneged last time and there was a bit of animosity there.
Oh well, my Club just gets worse and worse, Mike.
They have knocked down the old Pavilion this summer, to make way for the new stand. All the old Members Bars etc gone. Worst thing is, they are going to rename it. Years of history gone, just like that.
It's horrendous. Would sell their souls....if they had any !

What a bunch of idiots Saints are for signing him

Thank you for your input, as always, Saffex
Won't be joining me in the stands to cheer the old man on, I take it ?!

Keep on bluffing yourself. How come previous locks in SA do not share your admiration of Matfield as a lock and said publicly his inclusion in the Springbok team is a mistake? How come the Bulls was really eager to get rid of Matfield as their attack coach?
Matfield was a good lock years ago - the present Matfield is a liability/team handicap as a player and was a flop as Bulls Attack Coach. The players disliked him in the latter capacity and of his supporters Ludeke is gone already and Meyer is unlikely to last after the upcoming expected WC disaster. Pally-pally does not count in the professional rugby world anymore.
The unexpected top showing of the Bulls in the CC is due to the fact that Ludeke is gone and Matfield is not available to destroy the Bulls attacking play, as well as the fact that for the first time in years the Bulls have a decent captain who is a performing player leading by example.

I hate nobody - not even you and the other dunce on the site. What I do not like is to see damage done to our rugby - like Matfield has done over the last nearly two years. He was also a flop in his coaching role at the Bulls. Rugby players should recognize when they are past it and not be self-centered - which Matfield unfortunately has not done in the case of the Bulls Rugby and now also to the Springboks, with serious detrimental affects in both cases.
09 Sept 2015, 09:47#10
I also call people that I do not hate idiots, doos, etc.............
"He was also a flop in his coaching role at the Bulls....."
When Matfield was in a coaching role only the Bulls won the SA Conference and played in the semi-finals of the S15.

Hell - but you are dumb - no use pointing out what a flop Matfield was as a coach and a player over the last two years. The Bulls dumped Ludeke and could not act fast enough to rid themselves of Matfield - does that not teach you anything, stupid?
09 Sept 2015, 11:49#14
The Bulls fired Matfield?

They forced Ludeke to resign and released Matfield from his coaching contract with them. Same as firing - they obviously wanted to get rid of both.

ou maaaikie how many times do I have to tell you pap victor has never been a good lock. He has never played as a lock. Far to pap to do the work of a lock.
Yippeeeee great news for the Bulle and hopefully that is the end of him for the Boks.
Now we can build a tight five something we havent had for a decade. Then move on to get a balanced loose trio.
Best news in years rugbywise and deep, deep sympathy for Becs and the Saints fans - I mean how dumb can you get! wee victor will be 39 years old and 105 kg. Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha
Expect ou matfiled to get the boot in due course.

Or be a bench player like Morne at Stade Francais - expensive flops both of those.
09 Sept 2015, 13:59#20
Or Johan Goosen, for that matter?

Mike the bulle probably paid the Saints big bucks to get ou victor out!I see cerudunce windpomp is still babling on about that excellent young player Goosen.
Man I do hope Goosen comes back and plays for the Stormers. Failing that Fouche or Swanepoel is it - that platnum blond guy - will do.

I am not exactly thrilled by the prospect, but at least we will have cover for Lawes whilst he is still at the RWC !!

The guy you refer to is Tian Schoeman of the Bulls. WP does need a flyhalf - but I doubt whether Racing Metro will release Goosen - neither will the Bulls release Schoeman for transfer.

Now all we need is some team to sign Gary Gold and John Smit.

You are right about those two - the deadly combination of Smit and Gold. The Sharks should get a proper coach and Gold is not the answer. I think that Smit has proved that a top rugby player does not necessarily mean that he could become a manager of a business enterprise. He constantly flop and that is a major reason for the continuous problems of the Sharks.
There are some signs of improvement around - but still some problem areas that needs attention.

You should try to read some of the French reports. Apparently they are hoping that Carter also becomes an "expensive flop" like Morne, when he goes to Racing.

The Trooth Fairy
A bit of advice - never refer to Carter in the same sentence as Morne. Carter is one of the best flyhalfs ever - Morne was one of the biggest flops as a flyhalf ever.
