Mike, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I'm not seeing comments on either articles.

Draad
This is a weird story - that is totally unbelievable, One of the major international companies operating not only in SA - who provide major television and news services worldwide - published a story about a meeting between the referee and Powell which took place on Wednesday.
After the story broke a website agency in New Zealand came with a story claiming they have an e-mail from an unnamed World Rugby official claiming that no apology was provided and that Powell informed WR that he was misquoted,
Why was a copy of the claimed e-mail not send to the Agency who published the story in the first instance to the news agency who wrote the original story - that would have been the normal process when WR denied that a story was true. It would also contain exactly what Powell said to WR as him being misinterpreted - since the statement he originally made was in inverted commas reflecting exactly what he said.
I would not be surprised if this who denial story originated from Paddy O'Neil - he is a WR official - hence the absence of the name of the mysterious WR official. If that be the case one can accept that it was dirty trick by one of the most disreputable and dishonest referees in the history of the game and a dirty trick to cover up for his son.

Classic cover up. I understand that it wasn't an official WR apology, only NZ is privy to that, but to claim that it never happened? Par for the back 9.
05 Feb 2016, 20:44#44
...not so clever mike yr mendacious Sevens coach Neil Powell made the whole thing up and was caught out badly...he couldn't accept the loss so tried unsuccessfully to fabricate a story...then when caught out he admits, 'I was misquoted'...more or less a euphemism for 'I lied'...

Well Brycy, the articles have been posted. The teick is to spot the BS. We, being on opposite sides will probably not agree on what's believable and what's not, but until there's proof either way, we'll never know. In the mean time I'll go with M24 overStuff NZ...sounds a bit pony to me.

OK let's recap, I wrote above:
Umm Draad, I never said he did make errors, I just didn't accuse him of cheating or bias, you did
You reply with:
I did not say that. I did not even hint at it
And yet I could've sworn you wrote on the other thread:
Perceived incompetence is one thing to swallow, "perceived bias" a bit harder.
I think you're having a Mike moment here Draad, you can apologise too at your own leisure.

05 Feb 2016, 21:24#52
Haha, sorry my bad, you didn't hint at him being bias, you just 'perceived' him to be biased, right got it. Totally different.
Considered a career in politics Draad, you'd fit right into Zuma's cabinet...
05 Feb 2016, 21:27#53
And another one from you...
True, but if it was a Pom, he would've just been incompetent and not bias
Whoops!! You can apologise at your own leisure.
05 Feb 2016, 21:29#54
The plot thickens eh Mike? Now the clever ref has even changed his name to O'Neill in a further attempt to muddy the waters......Admit it, Powell fabricated the "apology" and has now been forced to backtrack and your dimwitted press has been stupid enough to print something without checking their facts. Desperation at it's best trying to somehow vindicate your team's inability to close out a game. Keep stooping....

Poi_ee, you should think about politics yourselve. I mean, reading what you want to and seeing it too.
Brycy, that Stuff. NZ article has been mentioned too. News for you, the references are vague and StuffNZ aren't exactly MSM. Jury is still out.
05 Feb 2016, 21:40#56
Haha
Draad: I did not say that. I did not even hint at it
*produces two posts where Draad explicitly writes the word 'bias' in reference to the referee
Draad: ah, um, look you're not reading my posts right.
Stay down Draad
05 Feb 2016, 21:48#57
...Draad, the question remains why has your coach admitted to being misquoted if there was in actual fact an apology ? ...the answer should be obvious..
05 Feb 2016, 21:49#58

Why waste time arguing with bent kiwis. The most dishonest rugby nation in the whole wide world. Next would be OZ.
They will on principle never ever admit wrong doing. Ban all nz refs. If oz continue to support the get the jarpy campaign ban them as well.
It cant be nice being a bent kiwi!!
