Philander, Steyn and especially 36 year old Tahir finally gave the Peoteas a win over the Black Caps. As a group they are an experienced 33 years old.

In the batting it was ancient Amla as top scorer. The best young SA batsman as picked by moz, Rossouw was the only other real contributor. Miller, the Sapp's pick flopped again

Stick with experience.

 The biggest balls up in the match was made by Van Wyk - so that is the one of the oldies you adore.   Joke of the week - you did not even know who Rossouw was when I mentioned him on the site as a potential international player quite a while before he was selected.

Wrong. I have never even seen van Wyk play and based on his horrendous error he wouldn't be my choice. I do find it funny though that you would focus on that error, when you tried to slime out of de Kock's even worse error which cost us the WC. 
Liar and hypocrite.

 Moz,  Saf has been punting Rossouw for years... and the old men that did the damage today also played in the match that got us booted from the CWC. Van Wyk was no better than Kokkie and to blame the lost WC on QdK is only baiting Maaik.

Sapp has punted Rossouw for years along with a lot of others....I made the call he is the best of the young lefties, I believe for Sapp that would be Miller. Very similar to my call placing Pollard above Goosen and Jantjies.

 

 

You are absolutely right, not all the old men came through in the WC final....but Tahir was decent, and Philander had the injury. The chief disappointmen t was Steyn who perhaps had too much pressure reversing the Proteas' curse.

 

 

De Kock wasn't solely reponsible....there was the Duminy/Behardien train wreck, and lots of other failures. AB missed a clear stumping chance as well, but he didn't have those big gloves and it was earlier in the game. So I can't think of any other single act that would have won the match....other than QdK's missed stumping. Can you?

Be assured our number one test ranking will soon disappear. Dale Steyn is fading, ditto Philander etc. Its an old attack going downhill.The serious question is where are the repla cements for these ageing players

After the game the six oubalie ABs stood proudly at Eden Park as the capacity crowd raucously acknowledged their contributions to the game ..... happy that they'll remain in the team as they head to the RWC .

 Even a depleted Black Cap side looked very good, their attack is superb without the two excellent quicks Southee and Boult, I predict a very competitive future for them. At full strength they'd have to be in the top three, wish I could predict the same for our lot. About their only weaknes s lies in their batting depth, still as an ODI side they're now even better than what we saw at the WC.

I suppose you watched the game (I am pretty sure Mozart did not watch it) so you are aware of what happened.  
I suspect there is more to the present situation than meets the eye.   Cricket is a political hot bed situation and we never seem to get the problem out of the way.  That is why Behardien is still in the side and where the politicos wants Tsolekile in the team as well.  When De Kock was out of form they could not replace him with anybody bar a wicket-keeper - opener and Van Wyk was the only such available.   If De Kock was only a batter it would have been easy - but it is the wicket-keeping part that became a problem.   The politicos want Tsolekile and that is where the situation is at present.
If the replacement of De Kock was a cricket only issue I would have commented on it but the political claptrap I am not interested in.

It helps to actually pass comment when you have actually watched the bloody game.....for if you had watched you would not have concluded that Miller flopped........he came in with the score on 290 odd with less than 5 overs to go. He got caught going for it.....so stop speaking utter crap


You also completely miss the point with age and experience. Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Tahir are our best bowlers regardless of their age......same can be said of AB and Amla as out bats. There are no better youngsters.


In rugby the situation is completely different, not only are we talking about a completely different game, where physicality and fleet of foot is the order of the day. In rugby our youngsters are far, far better than the old men, except for hooker where old men Bismark and Strauss rule.


So stop speaking rubbish regarding age and experience.
