Potential Springbok Team 2016

The issue here is that many of the present Springboks are retiring of just leaving the scene after the upcoming World Cup.   So what can we expect next year?
Full Back
At this stage there are no real options other than Willie le Roux at Full Back so no change in respect of the Full back foreseen.
Wings
This is a muck-up.   Habana will be 33 years of age and unlikely to continue much longer as a test player.  He has lost some pace and is not as effective s he used to be.   Pietersen has lost his pace to an alarming extent.and has been very ordinary at present - he definitely is not a future option.  Hendricks is in the same boat performance-wise.
The options are the following:-
Mvovo, Senatla, Combrinck, Jordaan, Van Wyk
Replacing Habana should not have too big a negative impact on the team

Centers
There is near to zero change foreseen.
The players involved are -
De Allende, Kriel, Vorster, Serfontein
No real change
Flyhalfs
There is near to zero change foreseen.

The players involved are -
Pollard, Lambie, Jantjies, Goosen
No real change
Scrumhalfs

 Mike, we are going to struggle a bit next year... the team will have to become a team first.  I suspect whoever the coach is,  he will try and convince Habana, Bissie and Schalk to stay in the mix for at least next season.  I doubt, they will stay though. 

 Draad
The problem was that there has been virtually no efforts on the part of the last two coaches to build up a sound squad at all.  Meyer was constantly running back to aging players - rather to allow younger ones to settle into the squad.   Meyer in fact only select younger players when the older ones were for a variety of reasons - mainly injury - not available.  He never selected players with a longer term objective of squad building and renewal.
the end result is obvious - we are going into the world cup campaign with a squad consisting of mostly aged players and inexperienced players selected to cover emergency absence of the oldies.   Some of the oldies are still "hospital ward cases" as mentioned earlier on the site, with virtually zero game time for long periods.  Fact is our squad is just a shambles of uncertainty at present.
At some time or another such a squad will cave in - since the golden oldies will leave the team set-up and indications are that most of the over-30 players are in that category with a notable absence of acceptable performance in most of the cases in any event.   That will leave major gaps to be filled next year.   
In any team sport constant team renewal is a requirement especially in cases of declining performance levels of aging players.   It did not happen in the case of the Springboks since 2008 with the result that we ended up with the present scenario.We may struggle in the event of the departure - not because of the departure of the oldies, but because of the inexperience of too many new players and the fact that a captain is also not available from the experienced players.  Bissie and Schalk will be well on the way to 34 years of age by the end of 2016 and even of they stay it would not be a lasting solution.   Vermeulen will hopefully still be available - but his absence playing NH club rugby will eliminate him as a potential candidate for captaincy.  
be it as it may - despite protestations to the contrary - all three players mentioned (Burger, Bissie and Habana) showed a decline in their performances compared to what it used to be and next year will show an even greater decline if they stay on.   
To find a new captain capable of playing a leading role in team development is a major problem especially in the case of a team consisting of too many virtual newbies.  But it can be done and I do not think that all is lost.  Better performances by the newbies compared to the present performances of the players they will replace may off-set problems substantially.
