Proteas overtake black cups in ODI rankings

Yes and congrats to AB!

Cricket South Africa (CSA) extended its congratulations on Thursday to the Proteas on winning their Momentum ODI Series against New Zealand, and in the process claiming the No 3 ODI ranking in this format of the game.

“Congratulations to the Castle Lager Proteas on their series win which sees them overtake New Zealand into the No 3 spot on the ICC ODI rankings and also to AB de Villiers on becoming the fastest player to score 8 000 ODI runs,” commented Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.

“ AB has achieved this landmark in 18 innings quicker than anybody else. That speaks volumes of AB's talents that we must never take for granted.

“It has been a tough series against New Zealand who are this year’s World Cup finalists. We feel our ODI squad and especially our fringe players are on the right track.

“Playing international cricket in August has also been a huge success and I would like to congratulate our affiliates and ground staffs who made these matches possible. We will realise the true value in time,” concluded Mr. Lorgat.

 All praise to AB.... a great in ODI's. As for the not so honourable Mr Lorgat, he conveniently forgets that the Proteas beat a depleted Kiwi side(with some difficulty)  and he fails to recognize that the Protea fringe players and some of the newer established players have serious flaws in their makeup, problems that will come to bite them on the ass down the track, only for them to wonder why they've lost another WC.

 Proteas lack quality. Too many bog ordinary players. Bowling attacking is going downhill. where are the young fast bowlers. Batting looks threadbare as well.
