Jaco Peyper is back from the South Pacific. He refereed the Super Rugby Final in Wellington, New Zealand, then the historic Test between Samoa and the All Blacks, a massive clash, then was the assistant referee in Suva Fiji when the Maori played there but this weekend he is just down the road in Welkom before going across to Argentina for their Championship match against the Wallabies.
Have whistle will travel! He will have refereed in five different countries in four weeks!
This week two major tournaments start - SANZAR's championship with Craig Joubert to blow the starting whistle and the Pacific Rugby Cup with Chris Pollock to set it in motion.
In South Africa the Craven Week sides, the big, prestigious interprovincial tournament for schoolboys which was started in 1964, the idea of Piet Malan who died recentlyy at the age of 96, at the time the oldest living Springbok. The tournament is a great stepping stone for promising referees.
