I didn't know Matfield was a big ball carrier ... did you?

 I get tired of teams rationalizing loses with the statement well this will help us in the RWC. It is inadequate cover for a string of loses.

This is the end result of a period where there was no teambuilding - only panic action. Meyer's story unravelled in the last year already.   The constant running back to players who was past it and the detrimental effect it had on Springbok rugby is biting hard.  
There is no excuses left and I am looking forward to the era when Meyer is finally gone from the coaching job.       

 
Exactly Just Win.

We lost ... again ... surely that should tell us that we have a problem.

Any normal person would have seen this a long time ago.

The result against the Welsh, against the Argentinians, the Scots etc.

The warning signs have been there for the last few years ... we've all seen them ... except Meyer of course ... and that fool Mozart ... yet instead of facing them we prefer to hide our heads in the sand ... pretend that all's right with the world.

That nothings wrong with our selections ... our coach and his indecision

Pathetic.

We get scrummed into the ground cause we don't have the right props ... we don't have the right tight 5 ... wed don't have the right pack.

We get beaten on the ground cause we don't have the right loose trio ... we loose turn over ball almost at will ... against the likes of Scotland.

SCOTLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But all's right with the world.

So says wankers like DF and Mozart.

We receive loop de loop passes after a 5 yard run from our front line scrummie and we're wondering why we don't have much of an attack. Why we don't get front foot ball.

We eventually start seeing signs of a midfield that works ... what do we do ... we change it ... we push Kriel out to the wing and then scratch our heads ...puzzled that it didn't work as well.

We have a full back that blows hot and cold. We don't do anything about it ... head back in the sand ... far safer there than doing something about it.

We leave players like Faff and Jaco Kriel out of the mix ... fcuk knows why ... we bring Lambie on in the last 5 minutes as full back replacement ...  that's the sum of hiss contribution ...

And so it goes on ... year in, year out.

I'm very pleased this has happened. It's been a long time coming.

Will there be any positive changes ... of course not.

I hope we get thumped in Argentina. That would make my year.

The problem we had ever since Meyer became coach was the fact that he consistently disregarded performance by players and endeavour to build a team around reputation under the guise of experience.
We have goo0d props - Meyer decided that he must bring in Steenkamp, Heinke van der Merwe, CJ van der Linde (a player no provincial franchise wanted any longer).  There was no regard to performance - zero - but they were good enough according to Meyer.   If Steenkamp - who in the Meyer era was in the main a Toulouse bench player - did not announce his retirement, he would still be in Meyer's squad.
We had enough quality locks - but Meyer preferred Bakkies Botha and Victor Matfield.  Bakkies always WAS a food lock, Matfield always a line-out-jumper who called line-outs - but never had any grunt.  Botha decided to retire otherwise he would still be in the team and Matfield got worse and worse in every match he played in - less and less contribution to the Tight 5, less and less line out takes - preferring to moonlight in the backline.   No other team in world rugby will call him back - Meyer pleaded on hios knees to get him back.
The loosies were slightly less problematic - but still is.  Meyer wanted Alberts - a loafer that has not done anything for either the Springboks - nor the Sharks - for years.  H e is still in the squad - as useless as he is fat - instead of looking elsewhere and getting players in and develop a solid base.
You can go into any position in the backline and find the same thing.   Lets look at the critical no 13 position though.  Nine players in three years and only one success story - yet he moved Jesse Kriel to wing to accommodate Jean de Villiers.  Jean is a great battler - his recovery from injury is to be admired - but is Jean still effective as an outside center?  I think not.
Meyer had no plan - no squad development other than panic selections, even when they were not justified - and no fame development either.   I agree with Dave - despite his loyalty to the team and obvious loyalty to rugby  - he effectively was not the coach we should have had in the past few years.   His winning record over the past year is prove of it.

Mike ... I am of the opinion that the only loosie Meyer selected correctly is Vermeulen.

Louw and Coetzee do not belong in the mix ... neither do Schalk, Kolisi, Oupa, Whiteley and Alberts.

That's near on 90% that he's gotten wrong ... only on the loosies.

Going through the rest of the positions makes for some interesting reading.

He's got his props wrong, his locks wrongs, his loosies wrong, his half backs wrong, his center pair wrong and lets face it we do not have  outside backs to write home about.

He's a clueless fool.

Fact is that too few people are prepared to state the obvious - Meyer is plain and simple a coach who misfired from the start.   His ideas was so frozen in the past - he got the support of clueless members like Mozart and co on this site.   Reason - they are stuck in the past too.
Sad to see that the situation has developed to a level where the Springboks cannot win games anymore because of clueless selections and lack of a coherent game plan.  What a load of rubbish for rugby lovers.

 Is it all Meyer's fault? Look at the. S15 results, look at the injuries. At least he has introduced a more expansive game plan. There have to be some positives ?In the RWC any number of teams can pull a great performance out of their hat & topple top teams. Wing & a prayer type stuff but can be done if injuries are taken into account.
