Back from a long journey to a foreign and troubled land...but other things to voice.
One of the greatest rugby me n of all time...as a young boy he was my hero...although I lived in the Western Cape and later Natal...made no difference to this true Blue Bull or in that day Northern Transvaal. A great human being...with his heart in the right place...of course no other than dear dear Old Frik.
Involved in the protection of one of our most incredible species...the rhino...he probably subconciously identifies himself with a threatened species...certainly rugby suffers the same in a broader context...players of this calibre will always be rare...the Donald Bradmans,the Jack Nicklauses,the Pete Sambrases, the Muhammed Alis to mention a few of various sports but Frik stands out in the same way in rugby...every where in the world of rugby ...Colin Meads will probably agree.
Frik a modest and humble man continues to do good work in areas just as precious if not more...a great contibutor...good men continue to do great things.
