None of the outside centers really made a serious claim, nor did any of the Scrummies managed anything much.
There was much hesitation about the following three positions:-
Full Back
Both Jesse Kriel and SJ Marais had outstanding games for their two respective franchises and it is really difficult to decide between the two of them. However, Marais did score a try and made another try - thus being the real matchwinner for the Sharks - so he gets my vote in this case.
No 12 Center
Another problem case and I think Harold Vorster and Burger Odendaal would have their supporters. It is indeed very hard to distinguish between the two players - but the fact that Vorster is more experienced with less possession losses cou,nted heavily in his favour.
No 7 Flank
Again difficult to decide. Burger definitely had a more flashy game looking good in ball carries and passing. However, the rest of his game was severely limited and he played virtually no role in ball protection and recovery while his defense deficiencies were indeed problematic. On the other hand Liebenberg was a safer bet around the maul situations. Liebenberg is really a star in the making - so he gets my vote in this case.
