I agree with you about Blommetjies, but differ with you about Van der Spuy - despite the try he scored. Benjamin and Andries Coetzee was a close call - so I will call it quits.
Alberts played at 8 and he performed well for half the match - in the second half he produced near to zero.
Matfield was moonlighting in the backline - made tackles - but as per normal his contribution to Tight play borders on the non-existent. I do rate players on all levels of play - not only selected ones.
When looking at Redelinghuys and Malherbe I looked at both their scrumming and play outside of the scrumming. Here are the stats of the two players:-
Redelinghuys0/000/6/2500104/20/010/0
Malherbe0/000/0/49000017/00/010/0
It is in this case like comparing chalk with cheese bearing in mind -
* the fact that scrumming against Redelinghuys Nyakane gave away no penalties (the one h e gave away was in a maul situation where he tried to recover a ball), while Oosthuizen gave away 3 penalties scrumming against Malherbe.
* Just look at the tackle stats as well.
Sorry - I disagree strongly with you iro the Malherbe - Redelinghuys issue.

The Lions scrum dominated the Bulls, Malherbe was very lucky not to get penalised in at least one scrum where he was going inwards and I don't believe he scrums legally.
Botha played the majority of the game at 8.

Matfield did bugger-all in Tight 5 play - was moonlighting in the backline most of the time. The day he start playing as a Tight 5 player - while also performing outside of the Tight 5 play is the day I will select him as a lock.
When Malherbe scrummed Ben Robinson into the ground in the Waratahs game - you mentioned it snidingly and when he destroyed Greyling last week - you never once mentioned Malherbe's name - but went for Greyling. This week the same with Oosthuizen.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. If Malherbe does not scrum, legally - he would be blown up regularly for illegal scrumming - and he is not. It does not matter what we think - what matters is what the refs think and they do not see illegality in his scrumming.

Ag foeitog - Mozart missed out again. One has to feel sorry for him. I have no problem with Van Rooyen as looosehead and in my case I preferred Beast to him. Unlike you I listen to logical arguments of other members and in the case of the looseheads never mentioned Shezza's recommendation on Van Rooyen. My problem was with his selection of Redelinghuys ahead of Malherbe at Tighthead.
Van Rooyen looked like a champion against the viciously poor Marcel van der Merwe - but I can live with him in the team of the week - since I do take heed of other members point of view if it is factually-based.
