Haaaaahahahahaaaa!! You got me there, Dave.
I can't really imagine many worse than him ... especially when it comes to holding one's nerve at test level.
Maybe not 20 ... but all of the European test 10's ... including Italy ... then we have those from the South Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Japan ... all better test 10's than Mr Jantjies.
Luckily for him he's been given continuous shots at improving on his previous failed season. Can't really think of any that have been afforded that many opportunities.
2017 is another opportunity for him to show us that he's not a failer at test level ... and if he does fail then I guess he'll receive 2018 to try again ... and 2019 if he fails again ... we'll see if he gets it right before he retires.
I'm holding thumbs.

If not Jantjies then who? Lambie is an even worse test performer than Jantjies. He's had just as many chances as Jantjes and has also shown farkall. Yes he kicked 'that' kick...but outside that he has been bog ordinary. Pollard is injured and even prior to that was barely even average, and Bosch is wet behind the ears. It is easy to point fingers at Jantjies, and yes, he is yet to prove that he has BMT, and yes, he has glaring weaknesses in his game, but FFS, he is still better than everything else we have available. To deny that he is the form fly half in the country is just plain silly.
The bottom line is that we simply don't have a great fly half in SA at the moment that is test ready. There are a few youngsters that could potentially fill that role...but they are not there yet.

Pity we can't see how some of the other 10s would perform at the Lions.
Lamb's wouldn't cut it but Du Perez might be interesting. Pity it won't happen.

That's exactly it. Who else other than Jantjies?
Lambie is gone. I can't see him returning to test rugby.
The guy I like is 28 years old (30 by 2019) and he's had an awesome season. He's made a massif difference at the Kings this year. In my opinion more consistent than Jantjies ... and seems to handle pressure without issue.
Question is though ... how will he perform at test level?
I don't think we've got our flyhalf position sorted yet. We keep seeing Pollard's name mentioned ... for that matter a few others are also being spoken of as possible contenders. Not Lionel Cronje though. How come?
He's impressed enough to warrant a shot ... surely?
Who has had a better season than him? Jantjies? I beg to differ.
He should have been brought in and put to the test. I would have included him without a second thouight.
I guess we'll never know.

Fair point CC. Lionel Cronje should have been given a shot. The French series would have been the perfect time to test him.
