I thought the ratings gave an accurate reflection of the Sharks game.. Esterhuizen was the standout player for the Sharks followed closely by Deysel. Reinarch was a train wreck with slow service and hosital passes. The Sharks offence looked far more potent when Mcleod? came on. Swiel was poor, especially that looping pass that was easily intercepted by a Saffacen player but he was elusive in heavy traffic and looks to have the makings of a fine player. All 3 loosies played well, crossing the advantage line with relative ease. Their takling was earnest and abrasive. The back 3 were poor, especially Ndugane who put his team under pressure with some poor clearances. The front row werent effective and were dominated in the scrums, a situation made worse when both locks were yellow carded. The only redeeming feature in the tight 5 was the intensity Bismark brought to the rucks and mauls.
Incidentally, I saw a glimpse of a problem that will plague the Sharks with Bissy as captain. He was lucky not to be penalised for a late charge on the Sa ffacen halfback. The replays were far from flattering and showed Bissy intentionally altering his line so he would body check the advancing player. Very cynical and a taste of things to come.
Yup, those ratings Saffex posted were dead on the money. I dont need to watch a game twice to get the measure of a teams cohesion and efficacy.
