Mozart.....The Economist is somewhat left wing. It also has to lay out options just in case the scenarios might happen.My issue is what happens now, to us socially. Because there is serious bad blood in Scotland and the rest of the Union. All because of that odious little man and his vanity project. As I keep saying, can of worms and you have no concept of this whatsoever. 
The vote actually involves a large differential, Cloudy. It is not a wide percentage, but a large amount of actual votes...and they aren't all in yet !

Why apologize? I never predicted a Scottish win, I just favored a Scottish win. But poor old Dave has been wrong so often, let me just congratulate him on finally getting one right.

 You were being mean and saying he hadn't figured out whether it was a yes or no vote, even though he said it was going to be ok. And you knew full well he had said they would reject independence  

Blackadders take on Haig wasnt too far from the truth , utter bull headed buffoon who's own PM withheld troops from him like a father doling out money to a spendthrift son .And before someone trots out their firsts in history even a dumbars.e like me has a degree in ancient history [ you know THOSE Greeks ] I know its only from an Aussie Uni but its mine and it must count for something  .In the Somme the French accomplished all their limited objectives with far fewer casualties while Haig racked up 20,000 dead Englishmen before retiring to his well deserved lunch [ the Kaiser should have sent him a "Blue Max "Plus 40,000 wounded ,missing and captured . What a great general indeed ! Pyrrhus  had nothing on Haig .And to the Brits Churchill may well have been something to be admired  but not to us "colonials" as he so disparagingly called our troops , or maybe it was all that black dogs fault eh ? .Strange how this beloved wartime leader of yours was tossed out with such alacrity near wars end isnt it ?

 Mozart it seems after a monumental inner struggle the pragmatic has won out over the romantic  within the Scots hearts eh ? The wee wallet wins eh ? But more momentous than even these events and of far more consequence ,Saint Andrews voted to allow women to become members !Strange portents indeed !  now the end times cometh ?

 Ummmmmm......Haig wasn't a character in Blackadder; General Melchett was. He was there to represent the accepted view that all leaders were upper class buffoons.If you have a degree in ancient history, it shouldn't cover the Wars, it should surely be Greco Roman based ? 
As for Haig, he followed orders, he didn't make them and was an establishment scapegoat. 
Churchill would obviously call you colonials, you lived in the colonies for goodness sake. It was a different time...what the hell do you think he would have called me ? ! And he was treated abhorrantly in this country.But there you go.

I had a relation who was in the Press Corp with Churchill in the Boer War and a Great Grandfather and Great Uncle who were both at the the Front throughout the First World War, my Great Grandfather was an Officer. They had different tales to tell of both Churchill and decisions made in the heat of battle. My Grandfather was a Sargeant Major in WW2 and my Great Uncles were also in active service, one was on the forced March after capture by the Nazi's. 
On my Grandmother's side, I come from a Military family.

 Yes as I said ,those Greeks [ Republic to late Empire for the Romans ] And military history has always been of interest to me .And Churchill didnt win WW2 all by his narsty ol' self despite his somewhat  self promotional history of the English speaking peoples .And he had a bit of cheek calling us colonials considering where his mummy came from , but what we find galling is his thinking that in WW1 we were his to butcher as he pleased .Plenty more colonial cannon fodder where that lot came from eh what ? And my family fought the English and their NSW mercenaries in the Maori wars ,we had one great Grandparent fighting for the king and another  for the Kaiser .My grandfather  his brothers and cousins signed up in 1939 and he never returned till 1946.So yeah my family knows a thing or two about wars [ not even touching on Korea ,Viet Nam ,the Malayan emergency .]
