The Sharks have named their squad for their overseas tour . . .


Forwards: Beast Mtawarira, Jannie du Plessis, Dale Chadwick, Lourens Adriaanse, Matt Stevens, Bismarck du Plessis, Franco Marais, Marco Wentzel, Mouritz Botha, Stephan Lewies, Giant Mtayanda, Etienne Oosthuizen, Renaldo Bothma, Marcell Coetzee, Willem Alberts.


Backs: Cobus Reinach, Conrad Hoffmann, Stefan Ungerer, Fred Zeilinga, Lionel Cronje, Frans Steyn, Andre Esterhuizen, Waylon Murray, JP Pietersen, S’bura Sithole, Lwazi Mvovo, Odwa Ndungane.


The official website also lists the following players who were not considered due to injury or suspension . . .


Pat Lambie

Pieter-Steph du Toit

So what has happened to Kyle Cooper? He certainly hasn't suffered any injury that I'm aware of and he was dropped like a hot potato a few weeks ago - allegedly because of poor lineout throwing - with the youngster Franco Marais replacing him. I just checked and I see Cooper doesn't even crack the Sharks Vodacom Cup team this weekend.


I can only think he's in some kind of disciplinary trouble. Does anyone know?

 rootwit some quality players missing  missing but things looking a bit better for the Sharks. They must play Alberts at lock with Lewies and Oosthuizen at 7
Cooper is a good hooker but seems to have fallen foul of the system.

Yeah saw that.......not sure what is going on with Cooper, I rate him but he seems to be out of favour in a big way.


He played in the Vodacom Cup game last week where the Sharks got thumped and he now seems to have been discarded in total.


That Sharks touring squad is a little suspect with the likes of Stevens, Murray and their locks apart from Lewies.

I am afraid it is not only the two geriatric locks and Stevens that looks sick - I am afraid that extends to their centers as well.
After Alberts failed to stop Paige from getting past him with only four meters to spare between the touch line and the scrum - I am afraid I have to agree with Beeno - he should be played at lock and Oosthuizen at 7.   He is not a flank forwards ass - or perhaps he is.

 Any news on the return dates of Lambie, PSDT and Jordaan? Jordaan has been a big miss this year

The situation insofar as all three players mentioned are concerned.   In the case of the three players mentioned - the situation basically is as follows:-
Lambie
When eh was originally injured the reports afterwards indicated an absence from the game of circa 1 month.   The recent pics on TV show him still wearing a neck brace and the absence was extended in reports to six weeks from date, meaning he would only be back by the beginning of June 2015.
Du Toit
The specialists' reports on Du Toit indicated that he would be off until the middle of June 2015 and nothing different has been announced or mentioned in subsequent reports.   
Jordaan
In the initial reports on his injury it were mentioned that he should be back somewhere in April and the latest reports were encouraging with a likely return in another two weeks time.   However, the fact that the Sharks go on tour next week and will be away for 4 weeks - it is likely that he was not selected to go on tour and not being available for two weeks of the four week tour - to delay his return by another 4 weeks.   I would not be surprised if he does not play some Vodacom Cup rugby during the next three weeks to prepare him for a return to Super 15 rugby.
