Sharks have just taken lead and its 17-14.

blowhards scored a forward pass try that went unobserved for some reason. Then hurricanes  started ducking under takcles and finally the Sharks got a yellow.

JP who has been playing well otherwise missed a shocker tackle. Watch out fo this new kiwi tactic of ducking under tackles to earn high tackle penalty and ultimately a yellow - as it could be used more often in the future.

Sharks have dominated every stat so all in all deserve to be in lead. Sharks main problem is two pretty pap locks at around 110 kg . If they had Alberts and  Steph Du Toit in the pack they would be very good.

Jannie had more energy but scrumming was ordinary. Beast playing well.

Ref doing best to ensure canes victory as he gives another penalty. NZ commnetators say it would be a shame if it goes over. Well of course as the Sharks should be winning this.

Two nz commentators say 61st minute driving maul trywas atry for sharks and that it was a crucial "mistake" by ref.Man bent reffing is hard to beat. Isnt it a total disgrace?

The Lions outplayed the hurricanes but squandered their chances.
The Stormers were vastly superior but were cheated out of a comfortable win by the ref. Now the sharks get the short end. Not acceptable. When will Ho skins act?

Yep but Micthell ans some other nz guy on Supersport say Sharks were robbed of a try at a crucial time. Their first try looked well forward.
It must be embarassing to be a new zealnder - or should I say it would be unless you were pathelogically criminal! Bwahhahaahhahahahahahaha

Sounds like good defense by the Canes. This year the still can strike from anywhere and live off little territory or possession but the difference this year is the defence.

Well their defence was shattered by the Sharks driving maul and th Sharks scored only to have the ref over rule it. So hey how great si their defence.
Beeno keeeping it real.

An extract from an article on Superspoirt
The Sharks were unlucky in the sense that the bounce of the ball and some 50/50 referee calls did go against them, but before Sharks fans get into a lather about the ridiculous decision to deny the Sharks what looked like a perfectly legitimate driving maul try in the 61st minute,

When the ref fouls up big time like this its not surprising the 50/50 calls go against you

I always thought Pollock was ok but this from Rugby 365 says otherwise:

"The Hurricanes stretched their lead at the top of the Super Rugby standings with a thrilling 32-24 win over the Sharks in Wellington on Saturday.

It was a much-improved Sharks team, who will feel aggrieved by some questionable calls made by New Zealand referee Chris Pollock - including denying them a legitimate try."

Sounds pretty bad

It does sound like the ref had a bad day. I haven't seen the game yet so I have no opinion but if Beeno says the ref was bad one has to object out of principle

SuperSport had a good discussion on the rolling maul. It was pointed out that some refs call a penalty when the line of attack is changed, also if in the line out the jumper who catches the ball doesn't hand-off the the player behind him when he lands but hands it off to the player one back it is a penalty. Some refs call it some don't.

Welcome back Hakwa, I see you are doing one of your classic runs, i.e. a post on every thread
Bottom line is Canes won & even playing without some of their stars.Sharks played very well though, there is no doubt about that.

It was a vast improvement on their previous performances - but there are still some serious weaknesses in the team:-
*   Jannie du Plessis at Tighthead*   Wentzel at lock*   The scrummie situation*   Cronje at flyhalf
The center pairing did better than expected - but Steyn and Pietersen remained bog centers that is barely sufficient on Super 15 level.  There saving grace also was that Alberts did not play.   If he did the players would have run round him like he was not there.

I just watched game & as usual Beeno bleating was just that, i.e. bleating. The rolling maul that resulted in the disallowed try was called correctly IMO. Kaplan said as much on the SuperSport TV aftergame show.
Kaplan explained about changing lanes & a few other aspects of illegal play & how some refs don't call this. Pollack was making a ruling based on the law.

How utterly useless Cronje is at 10, as useless as Zielinga is.

Another useless player is Adriaanse at 3
