Redneck ... I understand your thinking and can see that supporting the Bok means everything to you ... no matter the cost ... even if it means compromising certain principals of fair play.
You have the right to support whomever you want ... I most certainly won't dictate to you who you should be cheering for.
As for me ... I have difficulty wrapping my head around that. To me talent, focused effort and hard work should be what brings the reward ... not one's race ... nor one's skin colour ... nor the age old argument of "previously disadvantaaaaaaaaged".
What you put in, you get out ... that is what I was taught as a kid.
The reality of quotas and affirmative action appointments cannot be ignored ... it is part of our society ... a society that claims to be non-racist ... and yet the colour white is a liability in our "non-racist" society.
I work with these fools everyday. They have to be helped through their daily tasks ... everyday ... and in the end receive massive increases, promotions ... etc ... to keep them on our books for certain tax benefits.
The black man lives on handouts ... hand outs given him by white folk ... to the point that he expects it now at every turn ... as if it's his right.
I am of the opinion that supporting this unfair practice, is the same as condoning it ... giving it one's blessing ... agreeing with the principal of racism. Our kids grow up to accept this evil as the norm.
That I can never do.
We see things very differently you and I.
Bongi is not the 2nd best hooker in the country ... not by a long shot ... he too is just another quota, who Rassie brings on in the last 5 minutes to appease the masses.
Akker vd Merwe should by rights be the one pushing Marx for the 2 jersey. He has talent enough to maybe even upstage Marx. Bongi doesn't have the skill set to ever challenge Marx. You and I both know that.
Same goes for Jaco Kriel. He should be given the 6 jersey. He earned it. Kolisi didn't earn anything. He received it as a hand out ... a handout given to the poor disadvantaged black man.
The white man should not be punished just because the black man isn't developing fast enough. It isn't our fault that they're so slow on the uptake.
They should accept and own their limitations for once ... and not hand it over to us to take care of.
We should not have to live around their limited skill set, pretending that they are on par with the rest of the civilized world. They are not ... paint it any colour you want ... that is a fact.
There are a few standout players of colour like Dyantyi ... who should be part of the team ... a merit selection ... one that I cheer for. Same goes for Nkosi ... but that's where it ends.
The rest haven't earned the right to play for their country and so should be denied the right to don our national colours.
Sorry ... I will never see it any other way.
