He won't have to spend any money watching it on TV, it's on a free to air channel, so it's a moot point really !

I've been his PA for years, Mozart. It's a great position and he's a wonderful boss
Just pointing out that the RWC is free to air, costs nothing to watch. He won't have to " waste money " in this instance.

Thank you, it's good to know you can still speak for yourself. You are ok watching on TV because that has no incremental cost.  A not unexpected answer, but it raises some difficulties.

After all a frugal fella like you with your legendary acumen, would no doubt have been able to obtain the cheapest seats....with an eye to worming your not insubstantial corpus into a better seat at the first opportunity. A snap with your lawyerly gift of the gab.  A decent plan which would have cost you exactly....

How much do tickets cost?

"Tickets prices start at £7 for children and £15 for adults."....from the ticketing source.

And here we have to  introduce the notion of opportunity cost. The cost of watching the match on TV is not zero....it's your hourly rate as a lawyer. Let's call this number "x"....the hourly rate you get.

You are prividing us with a few pieces of unformation:

P > 2x

dP<15

The pleasure "P" you get watching on TV is greater than your opportunity cost....two hours at your lawyerly rate. But dP the incremental pleasure you get from attending the match is less than 15 pounds.

So we know p<15/d where d is the incremental pleasure parameter.

hence 15/d>2x

or x< 15/2d

or x<7.5/d

So assuming you get twice as much pleasure watching a game and d=2.....we can calculate your lawerly rate as < 7.5/2 per hour or 3.75 pounds per hour. Even if you get no incremental pleasure and D=1....that leaves you at a rate of 7.5 pounds per hour......and inconceivably if you prefer TV viewing twice as much as the real thing and d=0.5, your rate would be 15 pounds an hour.

Is there no minimum wage for lawyers in the UK?

What part of me not wanting to waste my money on Meyer's circus did you not get........but lets take money out of the equation and lets say I obtained some courtesy tickets - would I still go watch the Meyer circus live.....the answer is a big fat NO......for I would not want to waste most of a day getting to and from the venue only to watch a half baked Bok side in action.

Had it been the Bok side I select or close thereto, I'd happily go watch the boys live.....for there is nothing better than the game in the flesh.

Given your supposed extensive wealth and so called love of the game......why are you not jetting in and watching the games old man?

Tickets cost what ?! Where do they cost this measly amount ?! I know the SA matches are cheaper than England, but really ! I don't think you will find any official tickets for any Stadia less than £50, for any of the major Nations matches. Ours started at £50 and increased to ??? Well, how much does one want to spend in a Box ? Or not spend, given it's usually who one knows at these sorts of things. But the seats in the Stands are £250 or so for some decent seats.
£7 ????

58 When do tickets go on sale?

Fans have a number of opportunities to buy tickets. All remaining tickets are currently being sold in real-time on a first come first served basis on the official Rugby World Cup 2015 ticketing site tickets.rugbyworldcup.com, and will remain on sale until they sell out. Travelling fan packages (Supporter Tours)  and Hospitality packages are also on sale.

Can I buy tickets now?

Yes. You can buy tickets directly from the official ticketing website, or click here for information on how to buy Supporter Tour and Hospitality packages.

How much do tickets cost?

Tickets prices start at £7 for children and £15 for adults.

You really need to learn how to Google becs....you will avoid all sorts of embarrassment.

But damn, those hourly rates....eina!

Ummmmmm........I have an account with them, Mozart. What you needed to do was to actually look and see exactly what matches would be that cheap.....none of SA's ever were......
Maybe you should learn to do full research about your subject matter before making all sorts of inferences about other people !

Mozart, I'm going to the RWC and the cheapest seats I could get on the official website for an ABs pool game were 50 pounds each. I presume the 15 pound ones are for games involving minnow teams away from London??

I am making the trip over and have secured 14 tickets for SA v Japan

QF1, QF2, SF1, SF2. They range from 80 to 350 depending on category and game. To my mind there is no better way to enjoy rugby than live. Yes the team may not be the one I would select but they are still my team and I will support them.

Mike I was also at 07 and managed to get tickets to both England games. I must say the pain in my wallet is reduced when we win!

Well said Denny nice to see you recovering your mojo as your form had dipped considerably. We can however all agree wee cc posts leave a lot to be desired.!
Man I would love one day to have the money to blow on following a world cup. Twenty Rands = 1 pound!! The rand continues its slide.
I foresee more and more players heading off to earn pounds! Expectations are that the rand will continue to weaken. Great if you have overseas investments.

I've never lost my mojo or my form.....give me a break. The Ozzie dollar isn't in great shape either..down around 73cents. But yes the Rand has taken a battering, can't sell my investment property in Cape Town until the Rand gathers some substance and by the look of things that won't be for quite some time. Still nothing stopping you from becoming a refugee Beeno...all you need is a dinghy...

Rather try and teach that than your foul mouthed contributions cc. But in fatc i teach the way of grace as that is what is at the heart of the Gospel. Grace for sinners, eve n for you!
Now try and stop being so nasty for a while and you will feel better for it. What is eating you up. Tell uncle Beeno!

cc all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Read the good book.
Europe is finding out all about so called refugees invading them. Time will come when they will have to decide do they want to keep their countires or hand them over to the invading hordes. Its a simple choice in the end. The figure invading last month was apparrently 1% of the total European population. So they had better decide quickly.
OZ has been wise in thsi regard. They have not been willing to hand over the country to invading Asians.
Here in SA we of course have been as dumb as dumb can be. Probaly have about 5 million invaders. Any hopes of building enough houses and providing education and solving all these issues is consequently impossible. The poor in the country have in particular been sold out.I hear old Donald Trump is going to get very tough on immigration if he becomes president.

Carbuncle is just a failure in life....that's his problem. Years of only posting on company time has produced a flood of bile.....no humour, no insights,  no friends.....a pile of crud that attempts to make the next person's life as miserable as his. I should say I feel sorry for him, but I really don't.
