This so called experienced player, tries to clean a player out knowing full well we have a penalty advantage in front of the poles......not only does he try clear the player out he makes contact with the players neck and with it comes the penalty reversal.

In that moment of complete stupidity, he lost us the semi - what a wonderful way for Vic to bow out.......once a great player who will be remembered for costing us the semi

Utterly useless as a player these days and served to only have us exit the WC

Thanks Vic......well done......experience my arse

It was not only that one - he was also out-jumped by Whitelock in a line-out and lost the ball in the last carry of the game.
I always said that players like Matfield - who outstayed their welcome in the team - are always destroying their image in the last test they play in.  They are not competitive anymore so they have to use illegalities to achieve some sort of credit for performance.
To a large extent after Saturday the same applies to Schalk Burger who spilled the ball leading to the AB's match-winning try.
I think that it will be too late in the day - but expect a list if retirees after the game on Friday.  Problem is if Meyer stays on as coach - he will probably lick their backsides white to get them to change their minds about retirement.

Nice diversion.....but let's focus on Lomp's pansy tackle that got NZ ahead for good. What a piss poor effort from this overrated player....who then proceeded to call the worst lineout in recent Bok memory.

Lood missed a tackle thanks to a pathetic charge by another old man in Habana....expecting a lock to cover for his mistake is a bit ripe.....but that was within the first 10 min with a whole game to play......so bringing that up is a joke.

The real issue is the utterly useless Matfield with all the so called experience in the world, knowing full well we had a penalty advantage straight in front of the poles, chose to somehow for once impose himself physically only to make a complete idiot of himself by making contact with Reads neck and then trying to roll him as well.

This is the name of experience, the very reason advocated for this liability of a player being included in the side in the first place.

What a fucking joke.......good old Matfield cost us the semi there and then......3 points down the drain.....we lost by 2.......game over thanks to Vic

He missed the tackle because of Habana......hahaha....no he missed the tackle because he went high and Keino stiff armed him in the snout leaving him lying on the deck while Keino pranced over. Not the first time his piss poor defence has gotten us into trouble....G iteau fooled him for a try in our late Oz loss. In the meantime Matfield was taking down SBW in space, no problem.

Lood went high, Kaino never stiffed armed him

Matfield committed an offence had a penalty reversed and cost us the semi - huge difference

Matfield lost us the semi - FACT

Not to mention the spilt ball in the last minute - pathetic......utterly useless player we will never see in a Bok jersey again after the worthless 3rd place play off.......thank fuck

The massively impressive Lood will be around for years thank goodness.......our find of the WC, the player that made your name mud.

Lood easily makes the WC team of the tournament......no other 5 came close

You are so anxious to ding Matfield you can't even be honest about the Aboob call. Something that happens all the time in cleaning out, maybe a technical penalty but never called.... until Aboob wanted to balance the books.

As for no other 5 coming close Whitelock totally outplayed Lomp. All our lineout losses bar one to Retallik came at the back of the lineout....Lomp simply refused to use Etzebeth who was a banker up front. Very poor lineout calling....very mediocre play....disastrous tackling.

Wrong you are not allowed to make contact with a players neck, Matfield did......what is dishonest about that.....why would the ref and TMO get it wrong......Matfield cost us the semi in a moment of utter madness.

Cleaning out around the neck does not happen all the time, it is illegal.

Don't you know - Mozart has in his own mind rationalized the penalty turnaround caused by Matfield out of existence and also the fact that Whitelock out-jumped Matfield in a line-out and the ball he spilled a ball did not happen either.
Matfied made a tackle on Williams when the latter  was tractoring - that is all that counts.
What a serious case of delusion we have here.

Greybeard's penalty , lost line out and spilling the ball in the final minutes of the test COST US THE TEST.
MATFIELD COST US THE WC.
No excuses are valid.

Either way ... both Lood and Matfield should not have been in England to begin with.

They are both just not up to the required standard to play test match rugby.

Lood will still play many tests for SA...lots to learn still, but he will get better with experience. Totally underutilized leading up to this RWC.

That's a scary thought.

Lood in the Bok team as a 5 lock for another 10 years.

So much nonsense from the Egg magnets still daft enough yi support the oatheric matfiled I read somewhere Lood had the highest tackle count going into the semis of any player. What is certain is he is far fat better than the useless show pony whose main talent is to con the gullible. Meyer made a disasterous call getting matfiled back. God riddance to bad rubbish whose presence over the kast decade has ruuned our tight 5 and led to an.unbalanced loose trio etc etc.
