The following is the Springbok team for Saturday:-
15   Willie le Roux14   Cornal Hendricks13   Jesse Kriel12   Damian de Allende11   Bryan Habana10   Handre Pollard  9   Ruan Pienaar  8   Schalk Burger (c)  7   Francois Louw  6   Heinrich Brussow  5   Lodewyk de Jager  4   Eben Etzebeth  3   Jannie du Plessis  2   Bismarck du Plessis  1   Tendai Mtawarire
16   Adriaan Strauss17   Trevor Nyakane18   Vincent Koch19   Flip van der Merwe20   Warren Whiteley21   Cobus Reinach22   Patrick Lambie23   Lionel Mapoe
Thanks Meyer - no useless Morne - he really is a match-loser when under pressure.   I hope there is a vastly improved performance by Pietersen and Pienaar - for the rest a better defense effort by Pollard, De Allende and Kriel.
Remember - donkey kicking of the ball to Ben Smith will be a mortal mistake - worse than at Folau.

Any bets Heinrich's goes out with all guns blazing ... ??

The better set of props are on the bench. Should have started with them.

Whiteley is a wasted pick. He won't get any game time. Kriel would have been a much better option.

Pienaar ... the less said the better.

Lood ... not a 5 lock. Would never make my Bok squad never mind match 23. Useless.

Hendricks ... the required quota pick.

Same old boring horseshyte.

Clean lighten up mate, it is not the worst side ever! Will be interesting to see what Brussouw can do after a long absence, but I don't think he knows any speed other than full throttle.
I am not happy with Pienaar, but we are out of time to blood anyone else. I don't think Reinach is the answer either, but I'd rather start with him than Pienaar. Would also rather start Hendriks than slow Pietersen.

As usual HM makes all the right moves. Malherbe's poor scrumming is cause for Koch to make the bench. He retains the entire backline....but hopefully Allende has had a chance to view the tapes and receive remedial coaching.....to learn how to bring up the line and maintain station. Pollard  who attacks the gain line is retained as is Pienaar, who provided a fluid service.

In the pack we have Lomp starting....hopefully fate wont throw him any defensive duties near the Bok line. Brussouw was a much better option than Whiteley....perhaps he will have one of his inspired games, oddly I think he fits NZ better than Oz with Hooper and Poclo ck.

Reinacht and Lambie on the bench is cause for concern. But I'm guessing HM didn't want the massive controversy of a Morne selection at this stage....that will come at the RWC when things get really serious. And there is F du Preez in the wings. Hendricks is also a disappointing bench pick, but who else is there?

Koch should have started IMO. I would have liked to see him against a fresh starting Allblacks pack. Jannie got a bad knock against the back of the neck/head against Aus. It looked like he had needles and pins in his hands after the hit. Stupid to play him in this game, he could have rested. I know he was tested for concussion, but they did also said he "showed some symptoms later in the match". ?

Db, Jannie went to see himself about his concussion! He gave himself the all clear, but was not happy about being made to wait in his waiting room!

Well, this is Damians opportunityto set the record straight. I know his fandom will excuse him if anything goes awry, buyt hopefully Meyer will be strong enough to drop him if he fails. Also, do note that ifDamian capitulates as he has all season, Kriel is not going to shine. Don't dump the blame on him! Thebench is still weak however. Pat and Reinach offer zero. Cornal is too wrak on defence. It's essentially on Strauss and Flip who offer quality.

Here we have the village idiots at it again.   Lets look at their drivel:-
Mozart
"In the pack we have Lomp starting....hopefully fate wont throw him any defensive duties near the Bok line."
This is the continuation of a lie he is spreading - he deliberately tried to get something he could criticize on for his performance last week because he was so much better than Matfield was in all tests played over the past year - it was essential to find what he regards as a flaw and decided on deliberate BS - which the video countered comprehensively.  Take it as a lie.
"But I'm guessing HM didn't want the massive controversy of a Morne selection at this stage."

This from an idiot who thinks that because Morne can kick balls without being of any good in all aspects of play - he deserve to be selected.  He fails to remember the bugger-ups Morne made in virtually all the tests last year - but what can one expect from  an idiot that thinks 90% of the requirements of a flyhalf is donkey kicking of balls.
"And there is F du Preez in the wings. Hendricks is also a disappointing bench pick, but who else is there?"

After two totally unconvincing/poor performances against Wales last June due to unfitness resulting in an injury - Du Preez played 9 club games since then and due to unfitness was injured again before he even played another match.   There is no reality that he would play another match before the WC and Mozart holds him out as the great hope - at 33 he is more than likely to be the great flop if his recent performances on test level is borne in mind.
Desert Disaster
"Also, do note that if Damian capitulates as he has all season, Kriel is not going to shine. Don't dump the blame on him!
This is the worst garbage anyone could dream up.  The best performing center in Super 1 5 capitulates.  It is either ignorance or rank stupidity -  I think we should leave the choice between those to descriptions to Desert Disaster.  For the rest it is his standard drivel.

Is Heinrich Brussow the bloke that hasn't played for the Boks since 2009?

All jokes aside but is this ragtag bunch of has-beens, journeymen and rookies honestly the best team you Yarpies could come up with? I know things are bleak in the republic but this is just plain sad! Don't spare the lube Yarpies! You'll need it!!!!!
Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarn the All Blacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with Beeno. I saw Brussouw in a couple of Crusader - Cheetah games where he outplayed Makou, but having said that, I am still convinced Jaco Kriel would have been a better choice.

Hendricks for Pietersen - much better. I have a feeling he may win this game for us, if his defense doesn't lose it first
Good consistency in the rest of the team - Kriel, De Allende, Pollard, Lood all being given even more game time to establish themselves - youth brigade should be happy. Morne not even making the bench in the first three games after much hysteria when he was included in the squad.
Nice rotation on the bench, will be interesting to see what Koch and Nyakane can do. Both are more athletic in general play than Malherbe and vd Merwe and are better scrummagers.
Will Strauss see the field if game is close? maybe the last 10 minutes?
Expect an early sub for Lood who is an effort player and plays his heart out, but he's not an 80 minute player. Flip needs to keep things legal and he could find himself headed to the WC.
How much does Schalk have left in the tank after a monumental effort last Saturday? Whatever it is, I'm sure he'll give it.
Lose and you would expect the squad to look very different against Argentina next week as Meyer will want to manage players game time. Win, and the Boks will be forced to go for the tie-breaker depending on how things turn out with the bonus point.

Kriel and Faf, Blikkies. Both are very dynamic!! Also out of course is the speedy Steph Du Toit and the Mighty Vermuelen nemises of the bent read. Also out is Marcell Coetzee a recurring wee ab nightmare.
I see ou ka mat is getting all uppity.
Lets give the wee abs a severe snotklap!  Have them squealing susie or some other plaintive wail! Hahhahahaahhahahahaha
What a bunch of unfortunate kiwi blowhards we have here.

Beeno: almost all of the derision for the Boks on this board has been from SA posters.
Apart from my well intended suggestion that you watch the game from behind the sofa with your wife's cat (I believe you call it attending a seminar) most Kiwi posts have been polite even mournful. You will notice that I did not even include a picture to illustrate my point this time

Beeno: Ka Mate is doing you the biggest favour of all (perhaps unintentionally but nevertheless), just look how incensed you are & distracted from the anguish about the sad state of the Boks selections. Only a real mate (pun intended) could do this for you
ABs may be doing some major experimenting if recent articles are to be believed, i.e. starting Sopoaga at 10. Hansen is bold so I wouldn't be surprised. This game will not be a pushover for either team.

Car mat is a chest thumping blowhard of the worst sort JW!
I am well aware of any selection shortcomings and need no advice from old car mat! I think this side whilst not perfect is not as bad as those perennial doomsayers snapster and ou maaaikie are making out. They let their emotions run away with them!!!
For sound sober an*alysis consult Beeno and avoid the windbag kbbs like the plague!!

While agreeing that Hendrick's defnce is very substandard one wonders if he will thrive on attack playing outside the mecurial Kriel? He is a dangerous runner with gas.
By the way Snaps ter how good is Dan Kriel?

Meyer has to test these players & try correct their weaknesses. How else can he close the gap before the RWC?
