 I have really harmed my prospects by leaving my Wildcard until this time and intend to use it this coming round - so as to have the space to juggle around the top players i.n my squad.  
The Team I would like to put together if I can afford it - would be the following:-

Its going to be touch and go - but with a little squeek here and there I might just make it.
Bearing in mind the upcoming byes and the nature of the upcoming games - I will be able to do a juggling act with the players on the bench, eg -
*    Switch Folau and Savea around over the next two rounds;*    The Lions are playing the Sharks in Round 9 and I will take a chance on Vorster;*    Hooper and Gibbins will be used similarly to Folau and Savea*    There will not be another half-wit referee that will penalize Oosthuizen the way he was penalized in the Crusaders game.

Ou Maaik, why don't you try keep your Foxsport Wildcard until the knockouts? That's what I'm planning on doing.
In the first knockout week you're going to have to dump all the players from teams who don't make it to the knockouts and you're also going to have to bench all your players from the teams that finish 1st and 2nd. You're going to struggle to do that with the 4 transfers you receive for that round.
I reckon I'm going to save my Wildcard until then . . . even if it means I have a few no-shows during the group stages.
Also note that you only get a total of 57 trades for the entire comp (excluding Wildcard trades which are free). Anyone who has played his Wildcard and who is running low on trades going into the knockouts is going to be in trouble.

You must be one of a few members who have not used his WC as yet.  As far as I could make out from the results at least 8 of 9 of out 14 League members have used theirs already.  
I think that over 8 rounds you are going to collect more points by using the WC now than you would collect in the knock out stage - when there may be fairly low scores and consequently not big total point tallies.
However, I will think about your comments and then decide later this week what I would do.

 This was a headache - when I did my original forecast on the issue I found that there was a budget over-run of $386 000.
I had to sacrifice at least 2 very expensive players and replace them with much cheaper players and cut back on players in other positions as well..   The choices were weird and very difficult.
Ultimately I decided to consider the squad as now indicated above - not really what I wanted - but that is all I could afford.   What do you think of the above squad going forward in the competition?

I think it's a good squad, ou Maaik. You have the same outside backs as me and outside backs seem to be the big scorers this year.

I've also gone for Kyle Cooper because he's a definite starter for the next 4 weeks and he's very good value for money. I do think Dane Coles will be back soon at the expense of Motu Matu'u but you should be okay with Cooper as a starter.

I'm kicking myself for not starting Samu Kerevi this weekend (he scored 62 points sitting on my bench) and I'd really like to get Francois Hougaard and Christian Lealifano into my team but I have to make too many trades to be able to afford them so I think I'm going to just be patient. I need to start banking some trades.

Rooi - the way I read the rules, the Foxsport competition ends Round 18. The league playoffs are Rounds 16-18. I think you would be wasting your wildcard waiting for the knockout stages.

 If Pollard is rested I am in trouble.
On the use of the wild card, I have used mine already & I did this because last season I delayed using it and my weak team gave me poor scores for too long before I made the change. It is a matter of judgement, i.e. dumping a poor team before it costs you too much vs. using the wild card too early & having problems later.

I think Oimatey is correct . . .

"Once the competition gets under way, you'll be able to trade up to a maximum of 3 players after the conclusion of each round (and up to 4 in rounds where three or more Super Rugby teams have a bye), including the league head-to-head finals, right up to the round 18 league Grand Final, with a maximum total of 57 trades available. You can make all 3 (or 4) trades in one go if desired, to make best use of your remaining salary. Unused trades awarded for each round are not transferable and will be forfeited."

Looks like the qualifiers and semis are not part of the Foxsport competition. If this is the case, I agree, use the Wildcard sooner rather than later.

I had one poor score this far (412) - the rest were all what I would call average to high - ie above 430 to as high as 569.  I would not have used my WC before round 8/9 - but may even delay it for another round if Pollard is rested.  
However, we will have to see what the teams look like this coming week.   So lets wait and see and then decide on the way forward.
Help with team updating will be sincerely appreciated.

If the Canes were not on a bye next week - I would have been sorely tempted to bring in Nene Milner-Skudder.   He is up against two of the midgets - De Jongh and Leyds and will have a field day on Saturday.  Cannot touch him though - since I already has Julian Savea as an OB and two players from the same team in that position is just not on.

 Yes Coetzee has no idae of even what the major propblem is.Provided Eben is ready to go the inclusion of Burger has strengthened the pack but I fear for this little backline if the Stormers pack doesnt take full control. Rhodess should have started with Carr on the bench and Kolisi rthe nloafer lft out alltogether.
The defensive frailties of Hendricks and Rhule are also causing the Cheetahs a problem.

I still do not know whether to use my Wildcard this weekend - at this stage  my team looks like follows:-

Will have to wait until the final team announcements are made before finally making up my mind.

 I would have liked to have Lowe myself - but with Nadolo in I cannot make space for Lowe.   I am thinking about Kerevi - but that will have to wait another week.  
Looking at your team and not knowing your bench - you may have problems next week with the -
*   Hurricanes, Chiefs and Rebels having byes; and*   likelihood that Pollard may be rested next week .
I wanted to bring in some other players from the above three teams - but decided against it because of the byes.  As it is at this stage - I will in the event of the above - only have potentially two compulsory changes to be made next week.   Those are with Pollard and the hooker situation.  The rest of the bye players I can deal with by making them subs.
