The fact that I can think of myriad Schools where the parents pay a fortune in fees and get the little darlings taught by " Directors of Rugby ", instead of a good old P.E teacher in an ill fitting tracksuit , who never get near an England shirt as opposed to those who go to those bog standard State Schools that do make the grade, just says it all really, doesn't it ?

Woman up ?! Ha ha ha ! Unlike you, I don't have a chart on my wall containing the Top 100 Schools Rugby Teams, Saffex. As you well know, I am a barren old trout, so I don't really spend a lot of time watching young boys in shorts on the glorious fields of England.
I do know that KES Aston was the Natwest Schools Cup Vase Semi Finalist last year, that Moulton College is obviously very highly thought of these days and that both Skinner's and Sir Thomas Richard's are in the Top 10 Schools 7's sides.
I also know that a high percentage of Grammar Schools are still State Schools and are run accordingly, so I really don't know why you would wish to remove them from your extensive list ?
I could also add that Ben Cohen attended Kingsthorpe Upper ( now Kingsthorpe Community College )
That is 4 recent/current England players, including RWC winners, that I have listed for you, all of whom attended State Schools.

I have already said that Grammar schools play rugby......that's not up for debate......so wake up and work out the reason they are not part of the list.
As I have said, govt schools in England are crap at sport, for sport is not given the time of day.....that includes rugby, so trying to tell me the opposite tells me you are either blissfully ignorant or...................
Um, the fact that the likes of Cohen etc made it as rugby players has stuff all to do with their schools and everything to do with the clubs they would have played for as juniors and thats a fact.
I am not after players names, I am after a list of govt schools that are a force in rugby.....you are yet to name a single one, so try again.
It might save you looking a fool trying to tell me that govt schools play rugby at some respectable level......one would swear I was new to England, had not coached at junior level or had kids attend England schools - how fucking insulting

Oh wow, yeah, the competition wasn't filled to the brim with Public Schools, now was it ? Which, by your reckoning, it should be.
And, whether you have heard of those teams or not, number 4 and number 8 in the 7's Schools teams for this Season are definitely State Schools. There may be more, I do not know.
Ben Cohen played for Old Scouts. Heard of them ?
Sport in State Schools is poor, is it ? Not bothered with ? Tell me where Paula Radcliffe, Greg Rutherford and Louis Smith went to School ( just off the top of my head ) and I also know you have heard of the School where the current Backs Coach of Exeter Chiefs studied. I think you'll find none of those attended a Public School, did they ?

Becs, the ratings don't mean much this close to the RWC. They are used to help determine the teams that will play in the RWC but that was determined a long time ago for RWC 2015.

Dave, it's exactly the same here in Sydney. Rugby is only played in Private schools not in govt public schools. I have no idea what happens in the other states of the country. I've always wondered what rugby could be if kids in Gov schools were given a shot.

The Saints Community Team has been in existence for a good number of years now and they go into all Schools in the area, Primary and Secondary, taking lessons. Players are on rota systems and take the kids in training sessions; Teachers can also learn quite a bit from them.
There are a number of State School educated kids in the England Squad for the RWC, players like Lawes and Dan Cole, for example. But we all know my team is useless, blah blah blah.

Easy Becs, Saff isn't having a go at you! He's pointing out one of very few advantages of life in South Africa. I am sure he is well aware of the fact that space is a plenty in SA, allowing schools ample opportunity to have fields etc for sport. As for ill disciplined kids, that is the result of a lack of ability to discipline children, a problem most countries that have abolished corporal punishment are having to deal with.
Long story short Bec's, for every one good thing we have in SA, we have ten monumental problems! Saff, amongst others, is there because he feels it is better than South Africa, so obviously he doesn't think your island is so terrible . Let us have our sports fields, we have enough shart to deal with. Also, don't be too sensitive!

Some of Dave's comments could be seen as holier than thou and belittling anyone who goes to a state school, which at times is obviously beyond their own immediate control
Now before you jump on that high horse Dave, take note of what I am saying here.
You mention ill discipline, bad behaviour, no sports at state schools etc etc
Besides ill discipline, bad behaviour, which is within each person's control, you can't say they don't have pride in their school if they don't play sports, what has that got to do with the students?
Regarding ill discipline and bad behaviour, don't paint everyone with the same brush is all I am saying, just because it is a "state school"

Blue, in good old SA, you get two kinds of government schools. The almost free, with a fee of about R159 per quarter, and the previous model C schools (old white government ), which will cost you 1K a month. These are the schools that excelle in sport. Some of them are just as expensive as the private schools.

Draadie please dont be too hard on my good friend JW. Obviously he has no clue about rubgy (Like all the kbbs) but he is a decent enough oak - if you scratch deeply enough. I think Justin Marshall has been having a good influence on JW. Only wish Cloudy would escape the malign influence of wee mcaaaaaw.
