What bull[removed], if you come first in the country for another sport or academically that has stuff all to do with having pride in the school and everything to do with pride in oneself. Yet earlier you posted "Imagine going to school and not playing sport......no pride in their schools at all" you said that, not me, care to rephrase that. And explain this..."Pride in ones school is the product of representing that school on the sports field, or on stage etc". And if they are not on a sports field or on a stage?
If that kid attended a govt school and came first in a national 100m sprint that would have nothing to do with the school as sport is practically non existent in govt school......that achievement would be down to the athletics club that kid attended. B...l..l..s..h..i..t, and you know it, it starts at school first, then they get identified, scouted etc etc to an athletics club / school for further development, unless you are categorically stating here that all top sportspeople to ever represent England were developed and groomed at a top level school from their first day starting school. Don't talk s..h..i..t Dave.
As I said you are speaking utter crap, clearly knowing nothing about the subject. You are getting yourself into a corner here Dave
The majority of the kids in this country don't really give a toss about their schools.....its a gathering of mates and when the home time bell rings.....they are out the door. As I said, don't paint everyone with the same brush, just because of a few bad ones, but you always do, and in this case when you do, you make them sound like they are beneath you, which is ugly to see in writing.
"Team sports build pride in ones school".......you were clearly a loner who played no sport at school. So with your fantastic theory here, a long distance runner, chess player, pole vaulter, high jumper, sprinter, javelin thrower, weight lifter, hammer thrower etc etc should have no pride in his school because it's a singular event, not a team event as you specifically mention above here like cricket and rugby? LMAO... ok Dave
You cant break a 50 year old athletics record when you don't actually have any form of athletics at school. I said breaking a 50 year old school athletics record to be proud of you idiot, and are you telling me there are no athletics at schools?...
Boasting has stuff all to do with it you ignorant twat......the debate was whether govt schools played rugby at a respectable level or not - I know for a FACT they don't. I never mentioned rugby, you did, I am covering other sports that kids could take a lot pride in, since you say there is no pride at all, only maybe in your elite private sector or if it's a team event
Lol, ok Dave
I sent my kids to private school after my little man was sent with his year 6 class to the local secondary school for a taster day and they were locked in the tennis courts at break time for their own safety and had a police officer on site as standard practice.
Not sure what you mean here, what was the danger
