And then when you produce your stats you still have to apply observation. For example JJ made 50 out of 60 tackles, for a tackling success rate of 83.33%. Taute made 22 of 25 attempted tackles for a success rate of 88%.  That would imply Taute was the better tackler. But Dagg gassed him through the outside gap in 2012 and produced an AB try. So one of his misses revealed a potentially fatal flaw, lack of sufficient acceleration to cover the outside gap.

So is JJ our man? Sadly again two of his misses on Bosch and on Barrett produced catastrophic tries. In both cases lack of nous and upper body strength were factors. Again, poor but not disqualifying stats until you look behind the numbers.

So your assignment is, produce stats not raw data....and then examine the data points for additional information. No need to thank me.

Moz, always delegating his work to others & then challenging the methodology, format, interpretation... if he doesn't like the results the hard worker produces, lol

Moz, context cannot be read from stats, for that you need video evidence.

I'll give you and example, JJ got more space than Jan did or does, Jan is used as a battering ram.

How unfair JW....I have frequently done these comparisons. I'm just trying to help Biltong....all that Kudu has clearly impacted his ability to reason. I mean the poor addled bugger says: "I think a combination of Jan at 12 and JJ at 13 is a decent attacking combination. Defence can be worked on, but you can't teach speed." And he is talking in part of Steppie here....the player who was easily gassed by Pom flyhalf suffering with a dead leg.

These guys who think were their emotion s rather than their brains need all the help we can give them.

Hell from what I've seen, Steppie is more of a battered ram. Lambie against Italy did the same thing...accelerate into a brick wall. These chaps aren' t powerful enough to pull that off.

Mozart, just to educate you, I support no local team in SA, I watch every player and give them their fair dues.

I am not biased by provincialism and only want the best for the Boks.

I am of the belief rugby has changed over the past few years which requires a better skillset than what we had during the Jake White and PDV era.

I don't make wild statements about stuff that happened 4 years ago unless I have enough video evidence to prove my case.

I don't nail players unfairly. Something that happens a lot on this forum.

"He is kak"

"He cannot tackle"

etc.

If a guy cannot tackle, show me the video of the tackles he made and missed, don't cherry pick. Rather then just give the stats available.

It is simple when there is no bias.

Just pulling your leg Biltong....you are obviously a serious, polite, well balanced poster. I can't say I agree with everything you believe, but that's why we communicate.

Lets face it guys......we do not have any players that are of the same class as Danie Gerber unfortunately.
But if you have good players that you keep switching positions on you must expect results as per the Springboks.
Unfortunately it is a case of total mismanagement by you know who and his side kicks.

There is not one exceptional center in the world today, not even SBW.
