The Bulls have a problem - they have too many good centers

Fr om having to struggle with a center combination and a style of play that relegated centers to be defensive dummies and crashball exponents - they now have a problem inasmuch the changed playing style has brought a number of youngsters to the fore.
From a resources point of view they have the following players in their squad and that creates a problem for the youngsters:-
*  Jesse Kriel*  Jan Serfontein*   Burger Odendaal*   Dries Swanepoel*   Dan Kriel*   William Small-Smith
They also have JJ Engelbrecht on their books - but I do not think he is going to feature as a center in future.
The other complication is that a changed playing style will also bring the real value of a player like Serfontein to the fore and will bring out clearly his natural abilities.
So where to now - they can move Jesse Kriel to full back - but Waren Gelant has really developed beyond recognition and I do not think that after Kriel's performances in the tests this year at 13 that is likely to happen.
I was seriously impressed with the Odendaal - Swanepoel combination on Saturday, so I think that the Bulls should keep Serfontein, Odendaal, Jesse Kriel and Swanepoel on their books  and release the other two to go to other franchises.  That would be in the interest of both the other franchises and from a career perspective the youngsters themselves.  The Stormers for instance would really benefit from having Dan Kriel and Wlliam Small-Smith on their books - their center situation is really thin. 
I also think that JJ Engelbrecht should forget about playing at center - where Ludeke forced him to play - and move to the wing where he started off his career.  He never really adjusted to playing at center and have the speed to be a wing.  He should also look for greener pastures in other franchises, since it is unlikely that the Bulls would use him regularly on the wing.
       

 Agree Mike. The bulle in typical fashion have overbought being the greedy parasites they are.A return to the wing for JJ is long overdue. Had he remained on the wing he would doubtless be heading to the RWC barring quotas considerations.
It will be interesting to see if the bulle can man up next year. I always feel it a disgrace when we dont have 3 of the top six in the Super 15. With the Lions on the up even more so. I am concerned that the sharks having lost Jake due to their blind stupidity will flounder on. Their buying of old overthehill players ex the NH shows how dumb ou lardy John can be at times!!!

 The Sharks could do with a centre or two. Also, like beeno has said that JJ can test the waters on the wing.

 JJ played very well on the wing when with us. Ludeke fouled matters up.
One hopes the bulle and Wp underr new coaches will get going. Sharks are the worry. Lions on the up.Un fortunatley I dont have much hope for the cash strapped Cheetahs -  and none for the hapless queens! Why these oaks are playing in the comp is a total disgrace.
