That video highlights the end of South Africa's relevancy until 2004. Defensive lapses and structural problems that don't exist anymore - look at the break from Lem off a scrum, running into freely open space. The advanced leap forward from Australia, we never stayed in touch with those developments. Why? Because we were too proud. We were the champions, we won the Tri Nations, and we were unbeatable for a time. We thought we were too big to fail. Sounds familiar.

Nope, they fired Mallet because he moaned about ticket prices. He also had to deal with a ton of injuries leading up to the worldcup, but he was able to have a 71% win record and beat the all blacks on 4 occasions.

Saru doesn't like coaches that speak out. They did it to White too. Fired your world cup winning coach or simply refused to ask him to stay on because they made his life hell.

I blame Saru for their stupid hire policy.

Rassie seemed to know how to say all the right things. He does seem to be more strategic.

But on the other end with have Rassie and his antics.  I  know I stated that i'm a fan of Rassie but his recent selection policies as well as making Niena head coach really started to raise the alarm bells.

Not to mention how poor our URC teams  are doing, Lets see what we can do in round 2

I suppose the 52% win record in the second half of his tenure had nothing to do with it. He had 10 tests against Australia and New Zealand between 1999 and 2000, winning three tests . You do the maths; he wasn't exactly successful during that that period.

PS: The Boks only beat the All Blacks

It appears that the wider squad might be  a bit undercooked  and don't think we'll see much of the other players. Given that there is a squad of 45 players with most not  even featuring at all during this series.

Niena could have continued playing his 2nd team against Argetina.

Furtter , there are no other players they can  pull in that  already has game time.

Quite interestingly, we played our best rugby in the second Puma test. Frans made quite a difference, even with just his off-the-ball movement. We looked more natural on attack.

I met that entire 98 Springbok side by literally walking straight into Ollie le Roux at the Sandton City Sun / Lodge that they were staying at, before they flew out for that horrible game at Twickenham in December of that year, to take the winning streak from the All Blacks if they won.... which we all now know never happened.

I literally turned around to speak to someone and walked straight into Ollie, who was a super cool guy.

Then I got into the elevator and stood next to Mark Andrews, talking to him whilst it went up......and let me tell you, besides his height, the size of Mark's legs was just something unbelievable.

Standing around and mingling with Joost and Bobby, even Gary, this was the biggest bunch of massive dudes that I had ever encountered and it was super cool.

One has to be up close to respect and understand just how big these guys were and are

Without a doubt the best Springbok team that I have ever witnessed

Edit:

If you want to ever experience big, stand next to Kobus Wiese..... holy shit, I don't care how big you are, he just  dwarfs you...

I had a beer with him and Toks and let me tell you, Toks is not too small either

I saw Wiese in person as a kid. He really stood out to me, far more than the other Boks. I've seen several other Boks in person, including Bakkies, and Wiese still stands out to me. The closest to him, for me, would be Flip.

So the boks finally spin the ball a bit and running a bit more, not to mention from their own half.

Glad to see we are back on track.

But feels weird celebrating given we didn't win the dam thing.

Boys are complaining about being stuck in a bubble for too long

Back on track? Still work to be done. Attack is still poor and still cave on defence when run at.
