....all those little men who delighted in the Bok loss last weekend look a bit foolish now. It will be interesting to see how they react. Pervert has already made an apology for his laughable Samoa by 6 points pick....and then turned right around and attacked Matfield and  Jannie....some apology.
The whole team were excellent today. I rarely predict games but I was totally confident about calling the Boks by more than 20.
I mean are these people clueless. Have they watched no Bok rugby. We get into trouble against lesser teams when the focus is elsewhere. With all the criticism about selection and injuries we were not at all ready to play rugby against Japan...today we were going to be ready..
Watching the Tottenham fans today, delighting in each goal against MC one was reminded what real fans are like...loyal, confident and knowledgable. The Barking dogs take note.

Moz, everyone was more than entitled to complain after the Japan game, we lost to fecking Japan so it's one thing struggling against lesser teams but it's another thing being victim to probably the biggest upset in sporting history.
Regardless though that's all in the past, and if people can't praise Matfield, Du Preez, De Allende, and other regularly picked on players after that performance then they've clearly got an agenda. I've defended matfield before and criticised him but he had a great game yesterday. Even Louw, who I had my doubts over only a few days ago showed some long lost form.
Onwards and upwards, bokke!

Deddy I have zero problem with complaints after the Japan loss. We would be very undemanding fans if we weren't upset. What was unacceptable though were the cowardly insults thrown at Bok greats like Jean, Victor and Schalk. And the gleeful predictions of a Bok loss against Samoa...one supposed Bok fan went as far as hoping for a loss presumably to punish HM. Not cool.

A 'lesser' team that fielded a better, faster, more skillful backline and a loose trio that was more than up to the task. They dominated our halfbakeds easily. Overconfidence in a side that was weakened by dud selections. No complaints are allowed as far as I'm concerned because the duds were fan favs. If someone gives you what you asked for you have no right to complain if it turns out to be a curse.

There were all of 8 changes in the Springbok squad yesterday and the team as a whole functioned much better than they did against Japan.  The only exception was Jannie du Plessis who was poor against the Japanese and the same yesterday.
The backline with Du Preez and De Allende in the fray was a completely different animal as well.   Du Preez provided a much-improved display at scrum-half and De Allende constantly put the Samoans on the back foot when he carried balls.
It is not "cowardly insults when players are criticized for poor performance - like happened against Japan and Meyer made a huge mistake by not playing De Allende in the Japan test.  The criticism of both the players concerned and Meyer was fully justified.

Actually, Jannie didn't play that badly. The criticism levelled against him was an overreaction. The only player that stood out as a problem (in the starting XV) was Willie. He had some very bad moments, a couple were just good reads by Samoa, but still.

This is ridiculous - Willie was a massive improvement on the clueless Kirchner in the team.   he gave the Springboks a large number of options entirely making a difference to the backline performance.
Jannie was POOR in scrumming - the scrums were constantly on the back foot while he was on the field of play.

  1. Willie made a poor kick that failed to find JP for a guaranteed try.
  2. Made a poor chip 25 minutes in that could have been run back for a try had Victor not made an outstanding open field tackle.
  3. Had a forced cut out pass intercepted.
  4. Botched a set play early in the game where he kicked a ball into the back of Jean.
  5. Slipped a few tackles
  6. Was burned in a Samoan break early on.
There were a few more things. I like Willie, and I rate his playmaking skills over the excellent and consistently good Kirchner, but he had a bad day at the office. Each one of his mistakes could have cost us in a knockout game. He is looking horribly out of form.

This is BS - you could find two kicks you described as poor and missed out the fat that he contributed i9n a major way to the improvement in the functioning of the backline.  Kirchner last week was Kirhner - a player that should never have been a Springbok.
With Kirchner in the backline the Springbok backline had no punch whatsoever - Kirchner played like a headless chicken with no positive as a result.  With Willie the backline was an a completely different and much higher level of effectiveness.
Are you not ashamed at showing that dismal lack of understanding backline play and screwing up interpretations constantly.

You say kirchner made no impact? He made the most metres and beat defenders, offloaded and made breaks. Missed zero tackles, conceded zero penalties or turnovers. So how exactly did you arrive at that conclusion?

Kirchner decision making was piss poor and his kicking game equally so.   He did not contribute positively to any way to bolstering the Bok backline.  The most colourless full back imaginable.

Bolstering the backline? What exactly do you think a fullback is?
Michael, you aren't cut out for this, save yourself before it's too late.

A Full back has a key role in joining the backline in attacking rugby - comprehende? LOL.   Safe yourself the embarrassment by denying it.

Yes, joining the backline, which Kirchners stats indicate he did well. That wonderful opening run from deep where he rounded then Japanese defence and sent supporf clean through out along the touchline. Wonderful stuff. He adds bite to the attack.

When did that happen when playing in tests?  O - yes it happened once in 2012 in the Dunedin test when he passed the ball behind Habana's back and a sure try was buggered up.   No - I do not confuse things insofar as full back play is concerned - I leave that to your favourite Kirchner - he is just confused all the times.  Same as you who make statements and then tries to wiggle out of the garbage you created for yourself.
You make hay about rubbish players and then claim they can do things which in fact they never do  Kirtchner and Vrot Fransie are just two of those.

So pray do expalin why matfiled had a great game. He was operating against a non existent Samao lineout for pete's sake. Mallet commented on the fact teh samoaners only have one sepcialist lock in their squad.
Other than this he took a few kick offs like any lock should routinely do?
He was useless apart from that and this was very strongly underlined by the arrival of Lood who made matfiled look like the pap duffer he is!
LOOD AND EBEN ARE THE PREMIER LOCK COMBO ON THE PLANET. MATFILED IS NOT CLUB STANDARD. HOW DAFT CAN YOU GET. AWAY WITH THE CON MAN.
The one shot of WEE MATFILED  hiding behind Strauss who was expected to drive the ball up says it all. matfiled was actually standing in the backline near a ruck close to the samoans line and pulling strauss to hget in front bof him so he could assit Strauss in going forard. But oaks matfiled is the supposed lock. WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a disgrace!
Away with the show pony. His groupies have to be the most gullible of oaks! Bwahahhahahahahaha

Well his cover defense was fantastic, prevented a try early on when Samoa had momentum. Also made some very good carries. Certainly did nothing wrong.

How about being of very little value in the Tight 5, being useless in carrying balls in traffic and giving away two penalties by giving away two penalties?  Enough?
Matfield is a very weak Tight 5 player - he should be given credit for his line out work and to say he made very good cover tackles and prevented a scoring of a try by Samoa is stretching things to an unbelievable extent.
There is no way that physically De Jager is a much better lock than Matfield - he has in various tests this year showed that repeatedly.   If we reach the play-offs our best bet would be to play the Etzebeth-De Jager lock combination.

Victor had a great game, some important tackles, great passes, kickoff security,  a few excellent runs, several fine clean outs....and absolute dominance of the lineouts. I don't think there was a thing we could possibly have expected of him that he didn't do....these poor fools are so brain washed they simply aren't processing any new input.

Mozart did well in line-outs - but looking at the match stats there are some inaccurate issues in your praise song:-
Matfield0/000/4/1800008/09/220/0
he carried the ball just once and not "a few excellent runs".  he gave away two penalties trying to make "several fine clean outs".
Lets face facts and that is openly admitted that he did well in line-outs and in catching of kick-in balls and he deserve a good rating for his performance yesterday.   That does not mean that he did equally well from a physicality point of view.   He does not impose himself in carrying balls and is easily tackled - he cannot carry balls in traffic and the rolling mauls and scrumming was much better once he and Jannie du Plessis was replaced.
De Jager is a much stronger tackler and routinely tackles back opponents - and it is very difficult to tackle him - two or even three opponents are required to tackle him and he would will still go forward in tackles,
It was indeed a very good move that Matfield was benched around minute 53.  The forwards performed much better with De Jager and Malherbe in the Tight 5.
