The Stormers new coach

We have a real comedy here - a coach is reported,everyone is going over the moon - and after a week he got a job from the RFU which he could not refuse.  So back to the drawing board and now we have nothing to go on:-
Smal is apparently not interested in local coaches if his following comments are borne in mind:-
"And, when asked whether or not an international coach was the priority after Jones' departure, Smal's answer suggested that the new man in charge at Newlands would come from outside South African borders."

In another article he laid down some requirements he is interested insofar as the requirements for the job is concerned.- and those requirements referred to test and Super Rugby is concerned.  
So who are the likely candidates?
The newspapers have been suggested that the prime candidate would be Mitchell, but although he originated from New Zealand and lives in SA I have a feeling he won't be th one selected.  He partly meet the requirements.- I say partly because Mitchell is technically not from outside SA.
Now who else are the likely candidates other than Mitchell.   I would say it is between two candidates, namely -
*   Deans; and*   Plumtree
Deans obviously meet all requirements - he coached the Crusaders and had an excellent record there, while he also has international experience.   So he may be th favoured one in this case.
The second candidate is Plumtree.  Smal is well acquainted with Plumtree - they both worked in the Ireland set-up.   
If I was a bookmaker I would offer the following odds on the above:-
*   Deans      =     5/2*   Plumtree  =     28/10*   Mitchell    =     10/1
We will probably see over the next three weeks who will get the job, but we will have to wait and see who is "on holiday" in Cape Town before or during the festive season. 
Nice topic for discussion - who will take over at the Stormers?

Aside from the coaching job at Newlands, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and it has numerous attractions not available elsewhere.   The style of living of the wealthy is beyond belief.
From Dean's point of view it would for him be a move upwards in society - also the rugby society - if he can get that job.     

...you forgot to mention all the Cape Crusader fans not so clevermike and Deans is one of Canterbury's favourite sons...but I think he has bigger fish to fry.. 

 We'll see about that one - they are a very small support base in the broader crowds at Newlands.  What bigger things have Deans to fry?  Is he still at Panasonic Wild Knights or perhaps interested in the Japanese Coaching job vacated by Eddie Jones?

Coaching an elite team like the Stormers is the way to go when you want to get ahead in a coaching career.   I would say that Deans would take that job and pleas for it like is unbelievable.   So you are way off the mark here.     

Mitchell is a shoe in for the job. 
It is obvious to everyone that South African coaches have no understanding of backline play. 
The only thing that counts against Mitchell- is that most of his jobs have turned into player revolts. 
Calling his players crap and not SuperXV standard does not go down well with people. 
Although with the Stormers he has more players to work with than at the Lions and Western Force.

What player revolt are you talking about?   I followed the story very carefully at the time and in the hearing nothing of the allegations of the two troublemakers - Strauss and Jantjies - could be substantiated.  
The problem was that the two were so poor in a game against WP that they were subbed early by Mitchell.  They were feeling the heat and was afraid that they would be out of the team permanently.   However, there was no player revolt as you stated - unlike in the case where the players refused to sign renewal contracts with the Sharks with White as head coach.  That was a revolt - what happened in the Mitchell case was not a revolt.
Mitchell was not found guilty of any wrongdoing and his contract with the Lions were terminated by mutual consent.

That is the reason why I say he is proably third or even lower in line for the Stormers job.   I think the chances are it would either be Deans or Plumtree getting the job - biut could be wrong,
I know why the NZ supporters got pizzed off about Mitchell - he actually had the aud acity to drop Cullen from the AB team.
